All he had to do was try. He didn’t even try. If he had allowed what they wanted to come to the floor, have the fight, win or lose, at least he would have tried. It’s defeatist to not at least try. You never know if you will win or not.

And in an image-conscious political arena, the optics of a loss are sometimes hard to shake.

That would be Emmer. He supported the compact that states would give their electors to the candidate who got the most votes nationwide. That undermines the purpose and effect of the use of electors.

Yes I would like to see Dems support Emmer but totally understand how attractive it is for Dems to let Republicans continue to ■■■■ this up.
These pst few weeks and even the election of McCarthy to Speaker show how a party needs to do a lot more to ensure they dont just squeak through with a tiny majority.
Also illustrates just how fractured the Republicans are. Not sure the dems can capitalize on this in 2024 because of the length of time between now and election season. Would have been much better from a dem perspective for this to be happening in 2024.
