Resurfacing: The White House is currently working on ways to EXCLUDE illegal aliens from the US census, per Stephen Miller (WH Dep Chief of Staff)

My Twitterfeed

and two local newsapapers ran the same story today.

Seems odd but interesting that a story that has had no development in a month would pop-up like that, but oh well.

Who Counts? Trump Poised To Try To Remove Noncitizens From Census

Benjamin Weingarten | RealClearWire Jun 30, 2025 Updated 9 hrs ago

Following a years-long surge in illegal immigration, the Trump administration is poised to challenge a longstanding but legally fraught practice: counting illegal aliens in the U.S. census.

President Trump tried to end the practice during his first term, but President Biden overturned his predecessor’s policy before it was implemented. Now, buoyed by red state attorneys general and Republican legislators, the second Trump administration is determined “to clean up the census and make sure that illegal aliens are not counted,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller said last month.

What Miller didn’t mention are the political implications of the administration’s move. It could have significant political implications because the census count is used to apportion House seats, determine the number of votes each state gets in the Electoral College for selecting the president, and drive the flow of trillions of dollars in government funds.

Great idea.

No more letting dimocrats steal congressional seats and handing out freebies to illegals to do it.

Various estimates show that California would lose
1-3 Congresional seats,
1-3 electoral votes
and billions of dollars annually

I asked Grok for some perspective:

University: A medium-sized university (e.g., 10,000–20,000 students) typically has an annual operating budget of $200–500 million. For example, a public university like the University of Kansas had a 2023 budget of ~$700 million . . .

Hospital: A medium-sized hospital (200–500 beds) might have an annual budget of $100–500 million, depending on services, staff, and patient volume. For instance, a 300-bed community hospital could operate on ~$200–300 million annually . . .

Each $1b saved could make 1-2 medium-sized hospitals or universities 100% free!

Great idea. Illegals are not citizens why should they count for anything. If these dip ■■■■ “stankuary” states got their census numbers nipped, lost House seats and electoral votes and above all Federal money it might get their attention. But then again probably not.

Then they should not pay taxes either. :man_shrugging:t5:

Which they won’t . . . as soon as they stop working (also illegal) are deported.

They should be sent home. Foreign nationals should NEVER have any influence on our elections. This is the only reason why libs want them protected from being sent home.

unconstitutional.

Can you immagine what would it look like if all ‘Rosi-O’Donnels’ are removed too from the census.
And all those who hate America and use free speech to hide behind it???

Hooey

Article I, Section 2, Clause 3:

. . The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.

“in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”

What does “in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.” mean?

Does it mean "Congress shall not direct the manner. The manner has already been decided. Congreshas no authority to direct the manner?

Or does it mean "in such Manner as they shall by Law direct?
.
.
.
What is the deal with libs?
Do they know this is in the Constitution and chose to ignore it?

Or did their HS civics class focus racist conspiracy theories and neglect to teach the Cosntitution at all?

lol. census was codified into law in 1954.

they were directed to count people in 1954.

still hold true to this day.

Allan

and of course i here is the constitutional part.

“Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons”

see where it says the number of free persons.

lets see you trumpsplain that away.

Allan

Interesting. I am of mixed opinions.

Y’all realize this will also affect red cities and states, right? Not counting certain groups of people doesn’t magically make them go away and, more importantly, doesn’t mean the effects of those populations on communities will magically go away too.

The Constitution reads: “in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”
(“they” being Congress.)

You honetsly seem to be saying “The Constituion gives no power to Congress to direct the manner. The Constitution declares that the census must be completed in one manner and one manner only and one way only. It prohibits congress from directing the manner.”

must count free persons. its in the constitution.

Allan

Yes.
If there is some part of Texas where 761,169 non-citizens live, that part of Texas will loose one congressional district.

Likewise if NYC has 761,169 non citizens, NYC will lose one congressional seat.

.
.
.
Caveat:
this holds true if an only if the SCOTUS decides that
“in such Manner as they shall by Law direct” means “in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”

If they instead decide it means “Congress is prohibitted from driecting the manner. Congress’s hands are tied and Congress has no authority here,” things may be different.
