The government has put everyone in the affected areas under house arrest. They are not allowed to leave their homes.
The only exception is medical treatment.
âResidents of Binjari and Rockhole no longer have the five reasons to leave their homes,â said Northern Territory chief minister, Michael Gunner, referring to the countryâs five allowable reasons to avoid lockdown (buying food and supplies, exercising for up to two hours, care or caregiving, work or education if it canât be done from home, and to get vaccinated at the nearest possible location).
âThey can only leave for medical treatment, in an emergency, or as required by law.â
The area has a high indigenous population. Is the policy racist as well?
These âcampsâ are for individuals who are unable to quarantine at home.
Health authorities in South Australia are racing to organise quarantine âcampsâ for Aboriginal people unable to quarantine at home.
âIt has been identified that facilities would be required for the quarantining of persons who would otherwise be unable to home quarantine due to their living circumstances,â the tender document stated.
