He’s talking about congressional oversight of the DOJ. That’s not something you can hand over to the DOJ.
Your response might be more reasonable related to an investigation of Hunter…which IMO not many are going to care about, regardless of what he did.
It kind of solves the mystery of Fetterman being elected too.

Hmm apparently we are talking about different things.
I meant that Congressional hearings can be used to investigate things the DoJ might not do well for reasons of political bias.
EX:
- When Hillary said the 2016 election was a fraud. (and Steele dossier)
- When DoJ gave Hillary a pass on her secret email server and her stealing of government documents.
- When Trump said the 2020 election was a fraud.
- When DoJ allegedly targeted Trump unfairly at Mar el Lago for keeping government documents.
When used legitimately such hearings are actual hearings. The Senators are learning new facts for the first time . . . not staging a government-funded propaganda campaign to persuade voters.
Depending on their findings they may decide “DoJ cannot be trusted to investigate this matter fairly” and recommend an independent investigation.

If that private citizen has connections with the most powerful politician in the country, who also is the “boss” of the DOJ, and those dealings have to do with foreign unfriendly powers, then it would be mandatory to review that the DOJ is following proper investigatory procedures. It’s called oversight.
