According pretty much every lib here during this debate over the past 4 years in their ardent defense of Biden was that there’s nothing in current law that can be done when millions and millions of phony asylum seekers show up at the border and utter a few magic words. When comparing Trump with Biden this pretty much sums up their argument:
So if the arguments put forth by @PurpnGold, @biggestal99, @Jezcoe, etc., are accurate then the numbers at the border will essentially be identical for Trump as they were for Biden, unless we have another pandemic and Trump can institute Title 42 again.
So if all the libs arguments in defense of Biden are true then NOTHING at the border will change.
It will of course be night and day. The reduction in traffic since the Biden administration reinstituted some of Trumps border policies, before the election, prove that. That is only the beginning.
Imagine the disaster if the “bipartisan” Senate bill had passed. Trump could not cut off the border until he proved to a liberal DC judge that 4,999 illegals were passing per day.
The only Trump executive order that had any meaningful impact on the border was title 42.
And as we recall Biden claimed over and over again, there’s nothing a president can do if millions and millions of phony asylum seekers show up ar the border and utter the magic words!
Things seem to be going better at the border. A good thing.
Illegal migration across the Mexico border is down in part because the Biden administration secured some stepped-up cooperation from Mexico — the sort Trump seems to be celebrating.
Arrivals at the U.S.-Mexico border have dropped 40% from an all-time high last December. U.S. officials mostly credit Mexican vigilance around rail yards and highway checkpoints.
Driven by mounting pressure from the U.S. to block migrants going north, in the past few years Mexican authorities have turned to sending them to southern Mexico, in a strategy seen by experts as an attempt to wear migrants out until they give up.
When Trump takes office he will inherit a situation in which fewer undocumented migrants are being apprehended at the US southern border than at any other time over the past four years.
For the better part of four years, Biden sat on his hands in regards to the border crisis he exacerbated. Now that things seem better after Trump is elected, Im sure some will try to portray this as a Biden accomplishment.
The Mexican president put out a statement after the call that Mexico didn’t agree to do anything it wasn’t already doing to prevent migration into the US.
Trump at best embellished what happened during the call and at worst lied.
