Pete Buttigieg was groomed under the roof of a father in love with communism

Neither is Mr buttigieg’s father.

There was absolutely no requirement nor is there one in China for every citizen to join the party.

So, do you embrace Buttigieg’s “democratic capitalism”, under which democratically elected folks in government manage a centrally controlled economy, such as the failed Soviet Union’s planned economy ___ a system which left the people enslaved and destitute, while the elected planners lived large at the people’s expense?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims to be an advocate of hard working people living in the Bronx. If that is so, why is she not advocating an end to the unconstitutional “Temporary Victory Tax” of 1943, which began federal confiscation of the bread which working people have earned by the sweat of their labor, which is then redistributed by the hand of government?

That’s the problem, John. That’s the problem.

John, you seem to have inserted your definition of “democratic capitalism”. I looked it up on wiki and found that it doesn’t seem to be what you cited in your OP.

Perhaps you could give us what Pete defines as “democratic capitalism” so we could see the direct connection between term and what the term means.

Well then, let’s be crystal clear!

Are you a fan of "democratic capitalism"? And just what is your definition of "democratic capitalism"?

cap·i·tal:

Wealth in the form of money or other assets owned by a person or organization or available or contributed for a particular purpose such as starting a company or investing.

ism:

A productive suffix in the formation of nouns denoting action or practice, state or condition, principles, doctrines, a usage or characteristic, devotion or adherence, etc.

So, to be accurate, the significant feature of capitalism is therefore the investment of capital to achieve an anticipated profit and/or goal.

dem·o·crat·ic

Relating to or supporting democracy or its principles.

de·moc·ra·cy

Mob rule government, two wolves and a sheep voting for dinner’s menu.

Why didn’t you just use the wiki definition of “democratic capitalism”? I linked to it and it doesn’t sound anywhere near as scary as what you just wrote.

Regardless, neither yours nor my defn matter as the only one that knows what he meant by “democratic capitalism” is Pete. So go ahead and show us how he defines the term.

AOC, Omar, Buttigeig, the millennial kids of the Democratic Party are proud and out socialists … we are living in terrifying times. All sensible Americans should hope that Nancy Pelosi lives to be 100, because the next generation are going to make her look like Thatcher.

Oh come now. Buttigieg is talking about a centrally controlled system in which democratically elected folks in government invest tax revenue and manage a centrally controlled economy. He has repeatedly shown his support for the “green new deal” . . . a scheme which would most certainly leave taxpayers enslaved and destitute, while Buttigieg and his elected planners live large at the people’s expense.

Some typical modern-day examples of Buttigieg’s “democratic capitalism” would be Obama’s green energy money laundering operation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, our student loan crisis, the 2018 farm subsidy bill, small business loans, and many other taxpayer financed schemes in which our federal treasury is plundered by folks in government, and a privileged few benefit at the expense of hard working citizens having their earned wages confiscated to finance the above mentioned privileged few.

Let us not forget history when thinking about voting for those promoting “democratic capitalism”, and those who are self-anointed socialists. They all have one thing in common ____ confiscating a working person’s hard earned wages and redistributing them to pay for the free government cheese which planners of the economy have promised in order to get themselves elected.

On thing is irrefutable. Buttigieg is not promoting a free market, free enterprise system.

Socialist democrats running for office will promise food on the table, free public housing, health care for all, guaranteed income, free college tuition, and other niceties by taxing the so called rich; and if by chance they ever do get political power because of such promises made, their socialist iron-fisted dependency will enslave the very fools who elected them.

Can you provide any quote from Buttigieg supporting this because you use very few quotes and 95% of your post is in your words.

By the way, the definition of “democratic capitalism” specifically uses the term, “free market” in its definition.

So we have your definition and wiki’s definition that are at odds with each other. Is there ANY possibility at all that Butigieg may not be operating under YOUR definition?

We have a mixed-market economy. It’s done well for us. We will continue to have a mixed-market economy.

But you peeps continue to clutch your security blankets.

True…a fine example of the cascade effect of that was the RW talking points yesterday about the Notre Dame fire.

I seriously was about to post in the Notre Dame thread “It must have been the muzzies” when a post appeared attempting to blame Muslims. Strange times.

No but what do you think the role of the fed is in part?

True…but I was really referring to the “rumor” that spread like…er…wildfire through social media that the fire services didn’t respond for over two hours.

I think this all comes down to a debate about what role government should play in a society with a capitalist economic system?

When I read johnwk’s writing, my sense is that he does not believe that the government should play any role that interferes or influences the actions of individuals in the economic sphere. All else is Marxism. Distinctions between socialism, communism, democratic socialism or between thinkers as rigid as Lenin or as fluid as Gramsci become irrelevant.

The problem I have with johnwk’s position is that it rests on a fantasy that there is a capitalist system without government influence. I would pose that the tax code clearly picks favorites – although johnwk would argue that most of that is unconstitutional. The subsidies provided to farms and to oil exploration and so on are a mechanism to promote some economic interests. Again, perhaps johnwk would argue that all such programs should end under his vision of capitalism.

Fair enough, but this is not a debate between Capitalism and Communism. The pure capitalism that johnwk favors does not exist. And the pure communism of a state that has withered away while workers control the means of production is as much a fantasy and a capitalism absolutely independent. No one in the Republican Party is arguing for freeing capitalism by ending government supports and implementing a johnwk acceptable tax policy. No one in the Democratic Pary is arguing for a Soviet style centralization of economic control with the elimination of private property.

What this comes down is a matter of tactics, not philosophy. What I believe Pete B. and other see is that the government plays a substantial role in the economy in a way that favors some sectors over others and what they call for is government action that will provide more balance, especially important given the rapid escalation of income inequality in America since the 80’s (a trend that has continued under both parties).

NO NO NO johnwk shouts, that’s communism. It would be reasonable to oppose such interventions if we had a system that was heading to no government intervention in the economy. But opposing efforts to balance the impact of government intervention serves instead to keep in place a system unbalanced in favor of the rich and high campaign contribution industry sectors.

Until we see the Republican Party take meaningful action to neutralize the impact of the tax code and withdraw ALL government interventions in the economy what we actually have is a government operating to benefit large dollar campaign contributors.

That’s not capitalism. That’s not a Republic. That’s not a Democracy. And to shout “COMMUNISM” is just a way to preserve the status quo. johnwk is critical of the status quo in theory, but in practice he strikes a cheerleader for it.
