Should be offered? That is part of the problem. How is someone to know a firearm is fake or unloaded? Ever think about the trauma that kind of a situation can cause a person for the rest of their life? Does it even matter to folks like you?
What about the guy who is robbed who only has $100.00 to get him through the week for food?
Folks should have a hell of a lot more sympathy for the victims of crime, not the criminals.
Just goes to show how upside down libs can be on common sense.
Why not both you ask. Because one committed a criminal act upon the other. Put the criminal in jail and he/she cannot commit another criminal act while in jail, at least not on the public at large.
Does it not matter why they committed a criminal act? Do all criminals never deserve a second chance? Is it possible someone committed a crime because they got caught up with the wrong people?
For all the complaining you do about socialism, communism, before living off the labor of others work, you sure want to stick lots of people into situations where our tax dollars are supporting them for most of their lives. One would think since you care so much about the property wage earners earn by the sweat of their labor you’d be interested in finding a balance between public safety and how much we are spending to keep people locked up… between 70 to 100K per year per inmate… that’s a lot of money, yes?
I didn’t say it was a policy. They make cops feel useless by releasing criminals who repeat, and going crazy when cops make mistakes. Then the cops just do much less, and therefore crime stats drop.
Obviously …
This post is from a narrative that is carefully constructed to deceive. Notice how the bolded sentence… the sentence that most reasonable people would agree on… that ‘second chances’ are totally included in our American culture … that sentence is surrounded with what amounts as non sequitur.
“Why” doesn’t matter. “Wrong people” are always involved and is not a mitigating circumstance.
This method of debate is deception at its worst.
Who’s narrative? There is no deception. Why do you write these things?
Nonsense. Studies have shown that its harder to find work after incarceration and it can be challenging for some to reenter society and thus these issues increase the chances that the individual will commit another crime. So is it not reasonable for certain low level crimes to look for alternatives to incarceration if it means lowering the chances of the person committing another crime?
Obviously? Based on what? Should be just get rid of trials, juries, DAs, and judges and just let the cops decide who stays in jail and for how long? That might help with their feelings of inadequacy.
With or without reform there will be people who get back on the streets and re-offend. Its the nature of the job. I would say that claiming police are going to become apathetic and stop doing their jobs is also jumping to conclusions.
And in NYC, Manhattan, they sanitize felony crimes from the public records by reducing them to misdemeanors. See BRAGG’S NEW POLICY . A pretty slick way to produce “great stats”.

They are not “liberals” or “progressives”. They are Socialist Revolutionaries, the very kind who took over Cuba and now rule over the people with an iron fist.
“A staggering 80 percent of the officers, detectives, sergeants, lieutenants and captains surveyed now fear aggressively fighting crime because of the threat of criminal liability, being sued, or being unfairly disciplined.”
