Both sides gerrymander and I don’t like it, but what this little sidebar is about is actual laws being passed by republican legislatures that place administration of elections firmly into partisan hands. I would think you would be against that regardless of which side is doing it.

Here is an excerpt. It’s like this article could have been written today.
“All the talk about Republicans making inroads into the Negro vote is persiflage. Even ‘Jake the Snake’ [Senator Jacob K. Javitsj only gets 20 per cent. From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 per cent of the Negro vote and they don’t need any more than that . . . but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and be come Republicans. That’s where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.”
I stopped here. You seriously missed accounts being banned on Youtube, Fakebook, Twitter and others over QUESTIONS on the election? Over QUESTIONS on the vaccine and Covid? Come on man, seriously. That’s just sad.
Yeah, let’s just go with the NYT as a reputable source.
It’s hilarious to see the left attacking Republican states for racism when you notice that those states that regularly vote Democrat often have the lowest black populations in the country.
The truth is that the big switch is just a lie to cover for the Democrat party’s disgusting history. Some states swapped back and forth for a few elections but the main reason was not racism, it was overbearing federal government and the Vietnam war. Democrats started both. Were there some racists that swapped? Sure but what about guys like Robert KKK Byrd that was worshiped to the end and blurting out the N bomb well into his 80’s on national TV? What about Johnson saying what he said about black voters?
It’s just pathetic to claim Democrats are absolved of all of their decades of racist behavior over southern states voting trends changing. . . ESPECIALLY considering Democrats have run 100% of the top 10 crime cities for more than 50 years and they won’t lift a FINGER to help black Americans in their cities.
