In a worst case scenario, we could drop a MOAB or two on a nuke site. But that would be pretty much it. Basically, everything that needs to be done, Israel can accomplish from the air. All of these pundits who are going on about having U.S. troops in Iran need to ask themselves one question. Why? Why on Earth would we need a single U.S. serviceman in Iran? What is that supposed to accomplish? They have yet to come close to answering that question. Or even asking it.
Iran remains a formidable threat with its short-range arsenal of drones and rockets. While they can’t reach Israel with that arsenal, they can certainly target regional oil facilities, and even the 5th fleet.
At this point I see Iran as a severely wounded tiger. Very unpredictable on how they might lash out.
Using that rationale, we were technically in a state of war with Syria when we attacked their chemical weapons facilities back in 2017. We must certainly now be in a state of war with Yemen for our incessant bombing campaign against the Houthis.
We periodically find the need to take out terrorist targets in Afghanistan. Are we now in a state of war with them as well? And what about Iraq. When we feel the need, we attack targets in that country as well.
It looks like we “lost” more than a dozen. Going to need to speak with the Air Force about tightening up their accounting and physical security. Apparently the Navy found about 30 missing from a sub. Going to need to counsel them also.
