i lucked out. we’d show up and everyone would talk about which family needed food/money/etc because of /it could be anything/ or which family couldn’t afford for their kid to have cancer surgery and we’d raise the money/take them food/give them rides/etc. it just makes you feel good. it was nothing other than being a good human.
my wife’s church, exactly the opposite. evangelical and they talked about money, money, money, money. her uncle even got tossed for going to the inner city and bringing kids to their church in the suburbs (which meant their parents came too). well, not technically tossed but they told him to stop. so he quit that church and is now agnostic.
many of the evangelicals that i have met/deal with just don’t have good hearts. it’s not like i’m gonna be on my death bed and think “man, i could have been mean to more humans or excluded more gays or talked down to more women or cheated more people out of money or cheated on my wife!!”
it’s really funny to watch. they’ll throw out a Trump criticism every once in a while to attempt to convince themselves that they’re not Trump Republicans. like “yeah, i’m against Trump playing 60 rounds of golf. he should play 40 like Obama” or “yeah, Trump is a adulterer” then later “Trump’s girlfriends are smoking hot”.
the only thing they wont ever give an inch on is the wall. i just can’t figure out why. probably has something to do with the debt.

In a letter disclosed Monday in a federal court filing, the FBI confirms one of the world’s worst-kept secrets: It is looking into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
Why say this at all, since it was widely known to be true? Because in August in response to a judge’s direction, the State Department asked the FBI for information about what it was up to. Sorry, the FBI said at the time, we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any investigation.
Now, in a letter dated February 2 and filed in court Monday, the FBI’s general counsel, James Baker, notes that in public statements and congressional testimony, the FBI “has acknowledged generally that it is working on matters related to former Secretary Clinton’s use of a private email server.”
Baker says the FBI has not, however, “publicly acknowledged the specific focus, scope or potential targets of any such proceedings.”
He ends the one-paragraph letter by saying that the FBI cannot say more “without adversely affecting on-going law enforcement efforts.”
It is FBI policy not to comment on ongoing investigations. Comey made an exception to that rule but until he did, it was officially a secret not to be acknowledged publicly.
