No Kings rally weekend vs. Trump's big beautiful Army Parade

It’s just my opinion formed from the footage I saw.

I thought it was a pretty awesome celebration for the Army’s 250 birthday. Very patriotic, proud to be an American.

Obviously you have a low bar for what you consider awesome but each to their own.

Preparations to celebrate the Army have been in the works for 2 years.

they are not really “not in agreement” she just added the context.

i actually believe trump doesnt care about peaceful protest which is the official spoken position. hard to believe huh?

Here are some facts about “military parade preparation”
U.S. Army troops don’t regularly train for parade marching as a primary focus. While marching is a fundamental part of basic military training and unit cohesion, it’s not a frequent or major part of ongoing training for most units. Instead, marching is typically incorporated into basic training and then practiced on an as-needed basis for specific events or ceremonies.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
Basic Training:
Marching is a core component of initial military training, teaching discipline, teamwork, and how to move in formation.
Ceremonial Events:
Units may practice marching for specific events like Memorial Day, Independence Day, or other occasions requiring parades or formations.
Infrequent for Regular Units:
For most active-duty soldiers, marching isn’t a daily or weekly activity. It’s more of a skill they maintain and refine when needed for specific events.
Focus on Operational Readiness:
The primary focus of Army training is on combat readiness, physical fitness, and mission-specific skills, not on parade marching.
Other than transporting, staging and fueling rolling assets I’m not sure what preparation is required to drive down Constitution Ave? A formation of Abrams, Strykers or Bradleys? The drones in formation? Or the helicopters?
I’ll agree a lot of the troop were out of step but more were not. You could tell what units did more ceremonies than others. The Civil War represented were IMO the worst. I think they were re-enactors not regular Army. The WWI, WWII and VN components were again, IMO the best of the marching troops. Uniforms correct and in step.

The “marching” soldiers were certainly mailing it in.

as did i. I enjoyed the exposition of the various uniforms throughout the years.

Virtually every news outlet who reports on this gives about five seconds to the parade and 50 paragraphs to all the protests. you know just to make sure everyone knows there is “so much dissent”

Amusing coping mechanism there, GWH.

Hating they weren’t in redcoats, huh? Our awesomeness far surpassed your awesomeness 250 years ago.

And?..

I’m sorry I hurt you by calling out your TDS. It’s not your fault.

I’ll disagree. Tank crews interviewed said they came by train from Texas. That’s no “last minute cobbled together” endeavor. This discussion will go on ad nauseum and all TDS sufferers will continue ranting how the Army’s 250 sucked in comparison to the king bitches.
But that’s to be expected right? All I know is when the M-114s and an M-109 rolled by I Sat a little straighter. Told the wife: “yup I worked on that”
She wasn’t impressed.

A great history lesson to be sure. You know, the American history no longer taught in schools.
