I would expect that one of the prime motivations for students and parents is that they quite reasonably expect that it should not be the norm that kids are shot and killed at school on a regular basis.

Confiscating certain guns (the scary black ones are mentioned as targets most often) from law abiding people won’t fix the problem. Confiscating ALL guns won’t stop people from killing other people. It’s a fools game.

Samm I note you singularly and spectacularly ignored the fact that no student nor parent should have an expectation that it is not if but when that there will be a mass shooting at the school a student attends. That is not the norm in Australia and I fail to see why it should be accepted as the norm in the USA.

Your irrational fear of government is quite disturbing and inexplicable. I dislike intensely the current LNP government but I do not fear them. I know that with my fellow Australians we have the power to vote out that government and in fact we will in a matter of 5 weeks and one day.

I thought we already cleared up your confusion on this. We don’t live in fear of our government because we have a Constitution that restrains the power of the government. If anything, our government fears us, which would explain why they are always looking for ways around the Constitution.

Find it amusing that you keep bringing up your pending election as though it makes any difference. Australians have the power to vote, but the new boss is just like the old boss. Regardless of how you vote, the government owns you.

As confirmed by NRA officials Australia’s gun laws are problematical for the NRA. You can now add New Zealand’s recently passed gun laws to be problematical to the NRA.

What’s the population of Australia compared to the US? Did Australia have anything remotely similar to the 2nd Amendment? Do you not see the differences between Australia and the US? How would you enforce anything in the US similar to Australia?
