Still not seeing Mr. Rogers as a villain. He and the Officer Clemons character cooled their feet together in a small pool when black and white peoples couldn’t swim together in the U S.

As late as the ‘90’s, gay performers didn’t come out of the closet. The ‘60’s?!

Mr. Rogers’ advice to stay closeted & marry a woman was the standard of the time. Look up performers like Raymond Burr & Tab Hunter.

They dated & married women to hide from the public their true inclinations. Their careers would have been finished had they come out.

rogers stands out as one of the last remaining few people, if not the last, decent people on earth. so there will be an all out effort to discredit him with all vigor

The person they cited, Don Chance, even stated he didn’t do any study…wasn’t qualified to do one…and the one statement attributed to him was a metaphor.

Everything in that F&F clip came from the hosts themselves…with just the usual amount of light hearted banter they always employ to cover their tracks.

Rogers was giving him good advice at that time.

It probably had nothing to do with religion but economics. In show business you couldn’t be openly gay in the 60s and 70s. It was sound economic advice if his costar wanted to have a future as an actor.
