Merry Old England ain't so merry no more

Two residents in the small Derbyshire town have now been awarded £130,000 after they sued the parish council over their noise complaints.

Kids’ park BULLDOZED by council after just 3 complaints from killjoys who moaned youngsters were playing too loud

Complain about noise,
win £130,000.

Sheesh. I should move there just to make money, complaining about noise.

You wouldn’t speak about anything over there unless it is politically correct.

They jail folks now for speech that libs do not approve of.

I’m going to the U.K. in the spring. Their laws allow them to arrest me for saying things here. Thank God for screen names.

I have no plans to ever go back.

Don’t know if you’ve been there before but even McDonalds is better eating than the English cooking.

Dont worry you will not be arrested and will have a great time. Where in the Uk are you going?

I love England but damn this is so true.

Ummmm. Yes.

Was all for told thousands of years ago.

Just the beginning and much worse to come.

English cuisine is known for
Roast beef
Yorkshire pudding and other popovers
Englsh breakfast
Shepherds Pie
Bangers and mash
and other hearty meaty beefy dishes.

Gordon Ramsay, Robert Irvine etc.

It is fun to bash English cuisine, (lacks veggie-loving snob appeal)but they didn’t build an empire on crappy food.

Wait. Did anyone actually read the article? Seems like the parish screwed up.

How do you mean?

Yes I read it (*and then reread it in reponse to your post.)
Mostofthe residents did not like the judge’s decision, the news writere did not like it, it can be readily inferred that the parish gov’t did not like it.

How do you mean “screwed up?”

They did actually. actually.

Blood pudding, blood sausage, tripe etc.

Can’t believe you tried to pass off their shepherds pie as good..

French cooking and Italian is pretty good overseas but not English.

I’ll be on a ship with an upgraded meal plan. So I don’t have to worry about crappy English food.

So it sounds like the judge ruled that the parish did break some zoning rules by building the play area to close to some houses. And the parish was given a deadline to resolve the issues and they chose to remove the play area. Disagree with the judge if you want, but they ruled the park was placed in violation.

The three men initially took the council to court in 2021, claiming the games area breached planning guidance as it was located just metres from the nearest house.

While the first judge denied their claim, arguing the complainants were “hypersensitive to noise”, this was later overturned on appeal by a High Court judge in November 2022.

The parish council was given an abatement order and a deadline of four months to resolve the noise problems, either by closing the games area, or moving it further away from homes.

I’ll take Americanized foreign food almost any day over the original with one caveat.

We need to move back to using real food for food, and away from all the additive crap.

Saw a piece the other day that Bryers no longer calls itself “Ice Cream” because they cut the cream content below industry standards, and bulked it out with gums and air instead……

Now the label reads “Dairy Desert” instead of Ice Cream.

“too close to some homes”

Your initial point stands. Some Karens didn’t like kids playing nearby. So plow the playground under.

“The LAW” supports the Karens. “The LAW” shows that “Merry Old England ain’t so merry no more”
