Matt Gaetz under federal investigation for relationship with underaged girl

All manufacturing? Or one industry?

Again, you are espousing Liberal ideology.

Why would Gaetz be to blame?

Not all, but heavy industry and manufacturing took a hit after Japan and Germany got their industry/industrial base going.

And that’s a fact…

I was a strong supporter of Trump in his first term. I voted for him in 2016 and again in 2020. I didn’t vote for anyone in 2024.

In a couple of recent threads, my Trump comments have been pretty upbeat.

No not all. That is a fact. 70s is when the dying towns became a thing

I don’t think all of you agree that the hell is on the economic level. I think what being noted is that the hell is on the social level.

Not liberal … Libertarian.

Libertarian. And perfectly Constitutional.

My point exactly.

Are you trying to validate yourself?

I’m assuming this is acceptable source.

Again…1979 was peak year. Factories and heavy industry was still employing people in my home state. At that time it leveled off. Yes there were union jobs available…but nepotism ran amok.

Immigrants are part of the cause …when it comes to decline in union participation.

Certainly not the main reason…

Remember this?

Ronald Reagan supported the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) during his 1980 presidential campaign. PATCO endorsed Reagan, who was previously the president of the Screen Actors Guild, and Reagan promised to support the union’s fight for better working conditions. However, after PATCO members went on strike in 1981, Reagan fired 11,345 of them, decertified their union, and prosecuted their leaders.

You don’t think that had an effect on unions following that betrayal?

It might have…but other things were in play that far outweighed anything that Reagan done.

Unions had to compete with Japan and Germany and they didn’t want to adopt.

Also Taiwan was becoming and industrial base/powerhouse.

In late 70’s Rockwell industry was going through a hard time because of competing industries from other countries…so when the union for second time in two year went on strike…they said ■■■■ it and sold off their small tool line to porter cable. They were some of best tools at the time…and then heavier tools like lathes table saws sander, bandsaw you name it moved to Taiwan to set up shop. Few years later it become what most people may know as Grizzly Industry.

Reagan didn’t do that…unions did.

Right. Why are you ignoring the collapse between 1978 and 1986

Yes. The current drops were much bigger no doubt. I don’t argue against reality but that initial drop should not be ignored. The chart completely supports my point as to when it started and supports your points to when it was at its worst. It also shows that the biggest drop was during a gop presidency.

But you can’t argue with when it started

That’s a gop presidency btw. Dems!!

Decline of small town industries started in late 70’s and early 80’s…that’s a fact.

Also I’m guess completion of interstate highway system hurt small town all over America.

Then you add best and brightest of young stock went on to college because of success of industrial era…people could offered to send their kids to college, first ones in their family to do so.

That had long term effect IMO.

That was globalization…exact thing that I was saying at beginning of this discussion.

Say…did it take you this long to catch up?

Wrong. No credible witness.

It doesn’t matter that it was illegal in Florida, it’s not a criminal case.

You know full well there’s much more to life than eCoNoMic!

No cite for the source? Tsk, tsk.
