I just randomly looked into it and apparently not only has Fauci been doing this exact thing in government for forty years, he publishes so prolifically his work has been cited a quarter million times in peer reviewed papers and he’s one of the editors of the reference book that literally every internal medicine doctor in America uses.

I don’t think Trump can lawfully fire Fauci. Trump’s executive memorandum regarding certain senior positions in the civil service is likely illegal and Trump cannot simply fire civil servants.
Any termination can only be for just cause and must go through the Civil Service Merit Protection Board.
Fauci is a career civil servant, not an Officer of the United States.
Trump, Jared Kushner and Scott Atlas definitely know more than one of the top five immunologists on the planet. Did you know he once pulled his mask down at a ball game?

Yep. The CDC has been handling this as far as providing advice to the states, not Fauci. Fauci was the darling of the media because they knew his politics, and he let his politics out just before the election.
