Looking Back at the 'Rona Hysteria

And others can laugh at you when you suffer debilitating side-efects from taking the vsccine. And maybe you shouldn’t expect taxpayer funded medical support to deal with your self-inflicted iatrogenic health issues after you ignored other experts who were warning of the dangers of trusting an experimental pseudo-vaccine.

With a mask?

The problem with masking is personal behavior was not taken into account.

Personal behavior made worse by the mixed messages sent by the government.

The good…Operation Warp Speed…businesses that could adapting to use technology that may forever alter the way we work and collaborate…and Trump letting governors govern

The bad…the testing kit fiasco, created by the CDC letting the perfect become the enemy of the good enough as opposed to realizing speed of deployment was more important than perfection…and everything else that happened was a result of not understanding human psychology. Humans can only take “abnormal conditions” for so long before they rebel…this ought to be have been understood early on, and some sort of “Hammer and Dance” methodology for dealing with the early phases of coronavirus might have given everyone time enough to slow down and really take in how the pandemic was progressing.

But that last bit? Not sure it’s possible because it speaks to the big problem of government in an emergency. In an emergency, a government’s baser instincts to coerce and control get magnified.

Good post.

I disagree. Not personnel behavior, human nature. Any system that requires “100% of the people 100% of the time will… (operator dependent)” is doomed to fail. And that is not a new fact.

Humans are adaptable, machines are dependable. Another not new fact.

Agreed. It’s in the etymology of the very word.

Yes my mistake…human nature.

If we end up creating AGI, then even machines might stop being depdenable…

By our definition of “dependable”, very possible.

We learned that the CDC is useless. We employ 10600 at a cost of 1.1 billion.

They aren’t useless.

Their leadership ■■■■■■ up.

They caused more harm than good.

I’m not so confident. We may not have a lockdown, but some of these governors and mayors will do the exact same thing in regard to mandates, masks, and the like. They believe what they did worked. Just like when a dog barks at a passerby and they continue on their way. The dog thinks it was successful.

They will lose the consent of the governed much more quickly next time.

Those who see through the pretense must speak up and demand to see the science that allegedly supports those mandates and the science arguing against them, before complying. Only when enough awake people declare the emperor naked will the sheep start to realise they are being duped.

It takes conscience and courage to beat this engineered mass formation psychosis.

Yes there was no speaking truth to power.

No one to remind them speed was more important than perfection…there were plenty of test kits available that had been developed both overseas and in local labs, but the CDC thought they could make a better one.

We didn’t need better test kits. We needed test kits.

That plus system failure.

Speaking of government hubris…this excerpt from the BuzzFeed article…

The full investigation documents include about 50 pages of interviews conducted by two lawyers with the HHS Office of the General Counsel, stamped “Attorney-Client Privileged,”

Um…Federal Government? You can stamp whatever you want on those documents…but the law makes them public records no matter what you stamp on them.

and the fact that every single mandate and suggestion to wear them was based on anecdotal evidence and coincidental evidence, and every actual study concluded they did much of nothing.

I pointed out right here that scientific consensus was that population masking was worthless before Covid was released.
