Let us be clear. President Trump cannot shut down the federal government!

Border Security is funded, billions of dollars per year. A wall is a tremendous financial boondoggle. Thank God Nancy is in charge, since Little Paulie Ryan is MIA.

Our border is secure?

Illegal immigration is now costing American citizens over $18 billion a year in healthcare costs alone, far more than the measly $5 billion asked for to build a wall! LINK

“Trump Dayz” propaganda? Lol do you even watch that garbage before spamming threads with it?

Looks secure to me. Especially since there is no invasion. Stop trying to spend American taxpayers money on some stupid waste.

Besides, you still haven’t explained how the $5B will be spent. Break it down for us with detail if you can.

There has been conversations. And the result is the realization that Trump’s interest is not securing the border but securing a campaign promise for his base. That is why he won’t commit to a plan on how the ($5B) or whatever money will be spent. The Democrats have always voted for border security bills. However they included specific details on what the determent was and where it would be deployed. Trump wants this fight as he sees it a winner to his base. And he wants to keep this fight going all the way to November 2020.
And have you noticed that this administration has no interest in dealing with the large percentage of illegals that are here because they have overstayed their visitors visa? And do you realize that the majority of those folks came here over our northern border?

Look, the truth is “fences” do not work when they are bum rushed as shown in the previous and following video.

Are all these videos staged?

Aside from that, when will the political partisan nonsense end and an productive conversation begin concerning the necessity to secure our southern border from an ongoing invasion which is devastating to American Citizens and their communities?

Hello johnwk2. You keep avoiding telling us the details of where this $5B will go. That’s a lot of taxpayer dollars we are discussing here. Give us the specifics please. And then connect these details to how it will stop the invading hordes specifically.

That is video from 2016, in Macedonia, of a gate at a railroad crossing.

Stop spamming the thread with it.

Trump needs to negotiate with Mexico for wall funding. Not Nancy.

The object of posting the video is to point out fences do not work!

As to your assertion about spamming the thread with that video, provide the specific posts in this thread where it is “spammed”. How many times was it referenced, in response to a fable about fences and walls are ineffective? Three?

With any deterrent it all depends on the design for the location and problem. A different design then the one in the video might be adequate. Trump and supporters like you that are trying to sell the wall idea as the only solution are starting to sound pretty foolish.

As I have written before, putting all the rhetoric, misdirection, finger pointing and political partisan innuendos aside, is it not within the meaning of "general welfare’’, as found in our Constitution, to spend a measly $5.7 billion to secure our southern border using appropriate means commensurate with the variances in its terrain?

Yet another day for the Trump Christmas/New Year Shutdown. Disgusting.

Yet another day and another misrepresentation of the facts!

Your political partisan statement, the “Trump Shutdown” is factually incorrect.

The fact is, H.R.695 ___ a bill passed by the House and now in the Senate which would finance the federal government and end the shutdown ___ needs ten democrats for its passage. But minority leader, Schumer is threatening fellow democrats in the Senate to not vote for H.R.695, because of Sec. 141 which reads:

”Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, there is appropriated for ‘ U.S. Customs and Border Protection—Procurement, Construction, and Improvements’ $5,710,357,000 for fiscal year 2019, to remain available until September 30, 2023".

Why not, at the very least, put the blame on Congress where it rightfully belongs? Under our Constitution, our president cannot shut down the government. Only Congress’ failure to fund the government can shut it down, which is now taking place.

At least let us be truthful as to where the fault is placed.

Wow. What a lengthy way of stating that you don’t understand why this is Trump’s shutdown.

Trump called for this shutdown. He wanted it. It’s his. Democrats actually support having a functioning government, but Trump and the Republicans don’t. It’s sad.

Luckily, tomorrow the Democrats will be in charge of the House of Representatives and we’ll get a clean CR passed. Hopefully McConnell will allow it to come to the floor for a vote. I guarantee you that a clean CR would pass the Senate. Most likely with a veto proof majority.

Regardless of the silly things Trump may say, he cannot shutdown the government. The only way a shutdown can occur is Congress’ failure to send a bill to the President for his signature which funds government. And this is what has occurred.

I can’t wait for tomorrow when the House passes a clean CR, and you will have to admit that Republicans are keeping the government shut for political reasons.

A “clean” CR?

If a bill passes without funding to effectively secure our border, which will end illegal border crossings, the bill would not be promoting the general welfare of the United States and her citizens, who are now suffering the devastating social and financial impact of illegal border crossings. To agree to such a bill would be tantamount to embracing the ongoing invasion of our border and its devastating impact on American citizens.
