Just remember the Confederates were Democrats

I assume you are familiar with the term disparate impact in regard to racism, yes?

Guess you can’t see the irony of that meme in this thread. So tell us, when will democrats start tearing down their monuments to racists?

Sanger was violently opposed to abortion. Not that it matters in a post factual world…

I didn’t know that but you are right! Makes all these attacks in Sanger look very misinformed (to put it kindly).

Confederate generals? We are already working on that and for some reason the party of Lincoln doesn’t want them removed.

Someone hasn’t read the thread. Edit, sorry, wrong thread, i was thinking I was in in this one.

Trump Republicans (not true Republicans) are losing their ■■■■ over these removals.
The majority of those monuments were erected decades after the civil war as a means to mark territory, intimidate, and show who’s boss. Once again the confederacy are nothing more than treasonous losers which the Trump Republicans have no problem supporting and defending.

She was opposed to African Americans too. What a coincidence then that her creation kills so many of them…

She was not opposed to African Americans, another falsehood.

Her goal was for African American families to practice family planning. She said some AA kids were better off never being born and there was a reason behind it.

Her work showed that once an AA family had their third child, that child suffered greatly from poverty. They were more likely to die of disease, of sexual exploitation and homelessness. By the time they had their sixth or seventh child it hovered near 70 plus percent that the child died young and abused.

Her work was in the early 20th century, when a lot of Black Families lived in poverty. She wanted families to practice birth control and to limit the size of their families based on their ability to care for their children. That does NOT make her opposed to AA families. She was ahead of her time and a bit feisty but the propaganda about her is ridiculous.

She agreed with many on the Right about single parent families as well, does that make her bad or good?

Or does that just make her a convenient bogeyman for the Right Wing mediasphere?

Probably because taking them down would be “erasing history”. Or something.

Golly! So much good, anti-racist stuff in this post it boggles the mind why Democrat candidates haven’t used some of her quotes as slogans to run on! I especially like: “some AA kids were better off never being born and there was a reason behind it.” Why, I’ll bet if Joe Biden had rallies doing nothing but explaining what those reasons are, He’d get even more of the black vote than Obama! Could the reason behind it be that she just didn’t like black people???

Here’s some more non-racist tidbits about good ole Maggie :

Sanger was a supporter of now-discredited eugenics movement, which aimed to improve humans by either encouraging or discouraging reproduction based on genetic traits.

At one point, in 1934, she even [crafted a proposed law] that included this provision: “Feeble-minded persons, habitual congenital criminals, those afflicted with inheritable disease, and others found biologically unfit by authorities qualified judge should be sterilized or, in cases of doubt, should be so isolated as to prevent the perpetuation of their afflictions by breeding.” Sanger said she wanted “to give certain dysgenic groups in our population their choice of segregation or sterilization,”

Here’s another oldie but goodie:
"How are we to breed a race of human thoroughbreds unless we follow the same plan? We must make this country into a garden of children instead of a disorderly back lot overrun with human weeds.” (1924)

Over 60 million babies murdered in the womb, millions of them African Americans that could be alive today adding to the African American population…

THAT’S HER LEGACY! PLANNED PARENTHOOD, THE MONUMENT TO MORE AFRICAN AMERICAN DEATHS IN 47 YEARS THAN 200 YEARS OF SLAVERY!

You Libs really are hypocrites.

She had nothing to do with abortion.

Period.

The eugenics stuff was stupid, but that was a prevailing topic back then. Unfortunate stuff. Still nothing to do with abortion.

Isn’t there one in Seattle?

There’s a statue of Lenin in Seattle. Not sure about Stalin.

Can’t help but wonder, if the north had lost, would you now be calling them treasonous losers?

You mean like slavery and oppression was prevalent back then?? She had everything to do with abortion! What do you think she meant by it is better that some African Americans hadn’t been born?? You guys just don’t want your heroes demonized by the truth…

The eugenics stuff was stupid??? Do ya think?

From wiki.

Abortion
Margaret Sanger opposed abortion and sharply distinguished it from birth control, the latter being a fundamental right of women, the former being a shameful crime. In 1916, when she opened her first birth control clinic, she was employing harsh rhetoric against abortion. Flyers she distributed to women exhorted them in all capitals: "Do not kill, do not take life, but prevent. Sanger’s patients at that time were told "that abortion was the wrong way—no matter how early it was performed it was taking life; that contraception was the better way, the safer way—it took a little time, a little trouble, but it was well worth while in the long run, because life had not yet begun. Sanger consistently distanced herself from any calls for legal access to abortion, arguing that legal access to contraceptives would remove the need for abortion. Ann Hibner Koblitz has argued that Sanger’s anti-abortion stance contributed to the further stigmatization of abortion and impeded the growth of the broader reproductive rights movement.

While Margaret Sanger condemned abortion as a method of family limitation, she was not opposed to abortion intended to save a woman’s life. Furthermore, in 1932, Margaret Sanger directed the Clinical Research Bureau to start referring patients to hospitals for therapeutic abortions when indicated by an examining physician. She also advocated for birth control so that the pregnancies that led to therapeutic abortions could be prevented in the first place.

Fake news.

How is it fake news? Cuz you don’t agree therefore it’s not real!
