There is a distinction between the actions of Obama’s ICE and Trump’s in regards to the separation of families that you are trying to pretend isnt there.

Yes. Trafficking of children is illegal and that is the law the Obama admin chose to enforce.
Whether it is emotion that drove the decision to not separate families other than for a specific purpose is irrelevant because as the doctor has noted the Executive has that ability
