The narrative has been “1200 civilians”. That is clearly false.
373 members of Israeli security forces were killed in action. Many of the “hostages” were soldiers as well. They should be called prisoners of war not hostages.
Americans have the best news that Israeli censorship and complicit media can provide.
The narrative was 1,200 killed. There was no distinction made between civilian and military.
I’m surprised this bothers you, but Hamas grossly exaggerated estimates, not distinguishing between terrorist deaths and civilian deaths, don’t bother you.
Check that.
I’m not really surprised, given where your sympathies lie.
1200 killed in terrorist attack was the narrative. The implication is that they were all innocent civilians who were killed by Hamas, and there were no legitimate military targets.
Based in the numbers from the France 24 link, 67% of those killed on October 7 were Israeli civilians or foreigners. For comparison, 65% of the deaths in Gaza are women children and people over 60 years of age. The remaining are males between 14 and 60, and only a fraction of those are likely combatants. The portion of civilian casualties in Gaza has been well above 65%.
The portion of civilian deaths from the IDF attacks is at least as high as the portion civilians killed by Hamas on October 7.
That assumes that history began on October 7, 2023. If history starts on June 5, 1967, or November 2, 1917, then the answer is much different.
Israel is supposedly working to avoid civilian casualties, but the portion civilians killed in Gaza at least as great as for the October 7 attack. Hamas must be really lousy at targeting civilians.
If Israel really were bombing indiscriminately, as you claim, the civilian casualty numbers would be an order of magnitude greater.
Over and over again, like a broken record, you keep ignoring the Hamas atrocities and remain laser focused on Israel. You have yet to even acknowledge that lopsided behavior.
Perhaps if Israel nuked Gaza they could increase the casualty rate, but that would remove any pretext of following US law against proliferation of nuclear weapons.
As it is, the IDF has already killed roughly 20 times as many civilians as Hamas did on October 7, and they plan to keep fighting for the rest of 2024. Is 100:1 the target?
Destruction of Hamas is the target. IDF just found a whole weapons-manufacturing facility (embedded among civilian buildings, of course.) And tunnels for shipping those rockets throughout Gaza. And Hamas rockets still fly out of Gaza, so there are obviously still more supplies and manufacturing sites to be found.
You know what you can do with your defense of Hamas using civilians as human shields.
The military ops will continue until Hamas is completely subdued, and we’re gonna have to hear you whine about it until the end.
No it hasn’t. They didn’t say civilians, they said Israelis, Palestinians and foreigners. And they mentioned dead soldiers and reservists and foreigners by county from the about October 8th or 9th after the immensity of the massacre was apparent.
As I have said many times, this is tribal warfare. The US has no business in supporting it.
IDF effectively destroyed its human-shield narrative when they complained that the cries of babies and children’s toys were used to attract Israeli troops into an ambush.
Why would Israeli troops seek out young children and infants instead of avoiding them?
The target as stated is 100% of Hamas. And at some point, there will be no more civilians for Hamas to use as shields, unless they let them go. The civilian deaths in Gaza, just like in Israel, are entirely due to the actions of Hamas. Quit trying to shift the blame to Israel.
No, it’s not. Just because you continue to repeat it doesn’t make it so.
The US supports Israel; plain and simple.
Seriously?
The first impulse for a reasonable humane individual is to aid a child in distress. The savage Hamas monsters play to that compassion and set ambushes. You are really out there on this one. I seriously wonder if you are just doing this for attention or rather you really believe what you are saying.
