I’m sorry I may be a bit rusty on international law , but doesn’t a hostage held by a hostile power, of a third party, who then dies while being held hostage by this hostile power, constitute an act of war against that third party?
Because I believe it does just as much as the use of surrogates by Iran, to attack military bases, constitutes an act of war by the one controlling the surrogates, namely Iran.
And being as though Iran is also pulling the strings of hamas we now have multiple acts of war against the United States directly by Iran.

Hamas themselves have declared that they are an enemy of the United States. 2 United States citizens have now died while being held captive against their will by this self declared enemy of the United States.
