In Italy and the US the number of cases have been doubling every few days, and Italy is implementing Chinese-style restrictions on a large portion of the country.
Is the US prepared to quarantine large parts of California, Washington state, and New York City areas to stop the spread of the virus?
Is it even possible?
If Trump were to announce quarantines, all it takes is one federal judge to stop the program.
Would congress have to pass new legislation to allow quarantines on this scale? How would that work if congress adjourns to avoid catching the virus?
Do state governors have the power to act?
Are quarantines on this scale even constitutional?
