If it’s on the property of the people (aka state or federal property like the White House), the only flags that should fly at all are state flags, the US flag, and foreign national flags if dignitaries are visiting for inter country business. And the US National flag should always fly highest above those other flags.
Stuff like Pride flags, Confederate Battle Flags, Afro Unity flags, and non-US officially recognized flags, etc. should not fly at all on the property of the people. Only Federal, State, and Foreign national flags (and those should only be flown during international summits or meetings) should be flown on the people’s property.
I don’t give a fiddler’s ■■■■ about the cause, if it’s righteous or awful, what it represents. The pride flag did not deserve to be flown on the White House because it is not a state flag, the US national flag, or the flag of a visiting foreign dignitary. It’s is the flag of a movement. I feel the same about the Confederate Battle Flag or the Afro Unity flag. They don’t need to be flown on the property of the people for any reason whatsoever. Because they do not represent the people and our relations with each other or with foreign dignitaries.
It’s that simple for me. If it’s not a state flag, the US flag, or the flag of a foreign dignitary while visiting then it does not need to fly on the property of the people.
Both the pride flag and the Confederate Battle flag are problematic for different reasons.
Neither flag should be flown on the property of the people. If people on private property wish to fly then that is their right as citizens. But on state or federal property, those flags don’t need to fly.
People fly private flags for a bunch of different reasons.
Who cares? So long as it’s not on the property of the people it doesn’t matter to me.
The Pride flag does not deserve to fly on the property of the people as a whole. It is the flag of a movement, not a state, federal, or foreign national flag.
Same for the Confederate flag, the Gadsden flag, the Afro-Unity flag, the Hammer and Sickle, etc. If citizens wish to fly those flags on their own private property then that is their right to do so.
