I can imagine that being a mesmerizing thing to see. That’s something we don’t see over here in the states. Our country’s buildings are way younger than that.

In this case they should not have. They completely under estimated the Taliban. The question I have did the military agree or did Biden over rule them. If the Generals agreed, they should be immediately fired and retired. Every private who has ever been there could have foreseen this.

We do still have a base in Japan and Germany.
Iraq and Afgan would cover that region quite nicely…At least one of the two.
I suspect everybody saw this as a possibility if not a probability, and Biden decided to just get it over with.
I think we can safely say these are not really Biden’s decisions. He’s semi compos mentis. They are the decisions of those controlling/paying/blackmailing Biden: maybe the CCP; maybe the military industrial complex; maybe Russia.
So what are the game-pland of Biden’s potential masters?
The CCP would be happy for a distraction from talk of its Covid leaks onto something that humiliates the US internationally. They woulc like to be friends with Afghanistan to get sccess to its rare earth minerals in exchsnge for anti US weapons and infrastructure biilding.
Russia would liketo humiliate the US and divide the US citizenry.
The military industrial complex would love an excuse to get the US going toe to toe with a strengthened Islamist threat in order to sell more product.

The opium was further south of where I was, lower into the deserts. I was in cannabis country.
That kid did more chores before the sun came up that day than most American kids do in a week. The cannabis his family is growing is in the winter food garden. They prefer hash over the buds, and water bongs over pipes.
