International criminal court to investigate US for war crimes

Baghdad was looking pretty nice before Obama’s JV team came along.

What does the last half of that sentence mean?

The relevant factor as regards the United States is “might makes right.”

The United States has a long history of war crimes.

The difference is that we have the military and economic might to avoid ever being held accountable for any of them.

Doesn’t mean the crimes didn’t take place.

Just means there will be no accountability.

Moro Crater Massacre in the Phillipines.

My Lai.

Just two of many.

It is undisputed that the United States committed war crimes, including recently.

It is also undisputed that the United States will never be held accountable for any of them.

Nope its still we.

Not going to happen. The US is not a treaty member of the ICC. Further, by law,:

"In 2002, the U.S. Congress passed the American Service-Members’ Protection Act (ASPA), which contained a number of provisions, including authorization of the President to “use all means necessary and appropriate to bring about the release of any U.S. or allied personnel being detained by, on behalf of, or at the request of the International Criminal Court”,

Hey now, if Democrats wind up in charge, it very well may.

The ICC’s action IS significant to involved individuals in some aspects.

For example, they probably should NEVER leave the United States again, nor should they even cross into Canada or Mexico. Canada, Mexico and virtually all of Europe are members of the ICC, so if a United States Citizen was indicted by the ICC and found in Canada or another ICC member country, that country, by Treaty obligation, MUST surrender that individual to the ICC.

So unless your sure your military service was entirely above board, I suggest burning your passport and staying home, including staying off of cruise ships.

Again…American Service-Members Protection Act:

"…including authorization of the President to “use all means necessary and appropriate to bring about the release of any U.S. or allied personnel being detained by, on behalf of, or at the request of the International Criminal Court”,

You think Canada is going to risk that?

If they come up with evidence of a war crime they had best submit it to the US for consideration.

War crimes? Who us? Oh we’d never.

No American is going to get charged with war crimes.
even then Trump would just pardon them.

Canada would follow its required treaty obligations.
also such a person would never get passed Canadian custom as they would have a refusal of admission order for them.

Remember when the U.S Military would hang war criminal, not pardon them.

Wow!

The resident libs sound positively giddy at the prospect of crucifying american service members.

The U.S Military use to take war crimes pretty serious.
102 American servicemen were hung for war crimes during WWII.

trump couldnt pardon someone charged with war crimes by the ICC

You don’t remember anything of the sort. lol

No, but I am pretty sure we can beat them in a war.

BTW, there is a surefire way for the United States to avoid ICC jurisdiction.

Investigate, in good faith, all allegations of war crimes on the part of United States service members and charge any who need to be charged and tried.

The ICC does not exercise jurisdiction over nations that handle their own war crimes cases in good faith.

If we do it ourselves in the United States, the ICC becomes a non factor.

What do you people consider a war crime?
