I disagree with the headline. I don’t think the cops were “forced to retreat.” In an actual confrontation, I’m pretty sure the cops would come out on top. They retreated because they are not allowed to do anything else but retreat.

No. Not like that at all. The cops were out numbered at least 100 to 1 two weeks ago. And they were unprepared. The Portland PD is fully trained in riot control. They simply not allowed to execute their training.
After George Floyd, The Cincinnati PD approached a huge mob from three sides like a Spartan Phalanx. Pushed them into a parking lot. Cuffed them, stuffed them into buses and away they went. Riot over. Haven’t had a riot since. It’s too late for that in Portland. They raised the white flag months ago.
