Obama didn’t become president until 2009. Gas prices dropped under Obama.

What was it in 2012? 2011?

Electric car, anyone?

Teslas get 1,000,000 miles to the gallon.

High gas prices one of the reasons Obama tore McCain a new one.

Expensive, like it is now. Something seems familiar here.

Less than $4. Obama never had $4 national average gas. Then it really starts dropping in 2015. Are you unable to look up this stuff on your own? Not sure why you reference Obama about an article referencing $4 gas before he was president.

Has little to do with who is president. Hard to believe that a precious, finite, non-renewable resource would be cheap anyway.

Per gallon of what? Bull ■■■■ ?

If people can’t afford 4 dollar a gallon gas they can’t afford to go drop 35-45 grand on an EV. If their car is paid off they would be stupid to go take up a huge new car note at a time when interest rates for cars are going up.

If they are already in the market for a new car then an EV makes sense, since most dealers are selling near MSRP. Until the shortage ends the good negotiations that start at invoice price are on the back burner. But those people can already afford the gas increase.

Most Americans drive ten year old or older cars. They’re usually paid off, with cheap liability insurance. They can’t afford something like a Tesla Model 3.

Took my brother a full year to get a new F-150

So politicians do control gas prices?

Also how many people have a garage to park their cars in? If you have an electric car the Ideal set up is a garage where you have a convenient source of electricity along with protection of the charging equipment from the weather.

Not many. Most younger people are renting because home prices have skyrocketed in the last five years. And there’s very few land lords who would allow them to install a Level 2 charger on the property, which sometimes involves running an extra power line if the property is older and hasn’t been modernized.

So even if they could afford an EV they’d just be screwing themselves with a car note, high insurance (for some ungodly reason insurance carriers typically charge more for EVs), and having to use public chargers, which cost about the same as gasoline when you do the figures.

Perception equals reality.

Lots of cons blame biden for inflation.

With insurance I bet it’s the self drive and lack of an after market for parts.

Let’s recap the year. lol

“National average”. There was $4 gas where the people are.

What metric would you use if not the same one that’s in your article? That seems pretty simple. In fact that’s the correct way to do it. Your article cited $4 gas in 2008. You then threw in Obama. Obama wasn’t president in 2008. And since this article is based on the national average I can’t find a place where the national average under Obama was $4. At least not by month in any of the years he was president. So why did you throw in Obama for something that happened before he was president? ODS?
