They passed a law that prevents ICE from being within 1000 feet of a courthouse. You know what this tells me? That they’re not trying to protect the illegal roofers or farm workers. They don’t want anybody touching their precious violent offenders. The type you will find in court houses. If that’s the case, let them keep their rapists, child predators, drunk drivers and human traffickers. Skip the courthouse and focus on raiding the farms, and sweatshops. Let em keep the thugs. They voted for it.
One question libs. Why do you so desperately want to hold on to third world criminals?
My guess is the Supreme Court will say a state cannot tell the federal government where it can enforce federal laws.
What some Biden judge says in the meanwhile may be different.
This has more to do with allowing illegal immigrants going through the immigration process to continue that process without fear of being detained. If you want people to “do it the right way” don’t arrest them while attending hearings. The violent offenders will already be in custody. It has nothing to do with protecting them.
As the Biden administration pushed in court (US v Texas) immigration and how it is enforced is not the states concern. The immigration and nationality act allows detention.
To me, this is the MAGA zealots most heinous act. Saying they want legal immigration with one breath and then defending nabbing people trying to follow the process with the next. It’s pathetic and petty.
How did things get to where they are today? Back in the 70s and 80s the roofers, landscapers, and hotel maids were all black and white Americans. I know this because I lived it, and a lot of my friends worked these jobs.
Obviously these are not jobs Americans won’t do, like the donkey party will have you believe. But the elephant in the room doesn’t seem to care either. They are perfectly ok with it.
Another rocket scientist who doesn’t realize that immigration hearings don’t occur in county/state court houses. Questions of violations of state and local law are conducted in those locations. It is a place and time where federal authorities can predict, through the published public schedule of the cases before these courts, that illegal aliens involved in these cases will be present and may be apprehended.
Detention until a hearing is complete is a legal part of the process. Many people who are “nabbed” have already had their due process and asylum claims rejected.
