Have you ever spoken with someone who has entered our nation as an illegal immigrant? Have you ever met anyone who has sought asylum here? Learned of their situation and where they came from, and why they made the perilous journey here? I did mission work in Central and South America. And you would likely be amazed at how little “accurate” information exists in some of these incredibly impoverished parts of the world.
Seriously? Count your blessings that you are fortunate enough to have won the birth lottery.
Yes, penalize businesses who contribute to the failed state. We penalize businesses for breaking other laws. This would be no different. And yes, I do call myself a conservative.
We have not monitored the border with sufficient bodies and technology, ever. So no, that has not been the strategy.
What’s your solution? I laid my cards out there. Care to do the same?
I am not holding my breath, lol. While I am in favor of building a wall, I am also in favor of other multi-pronged approaches, including severe penalties for knowingly employing illegals. We have to solve this problem from both the inside and at our borders.
I truly believe that it is likely in line with what most Americans would agree with. The extremists aside of course. I believe most Americans, both left and right of center, agree that we need secure borders, need to address those living here illegally, and create a solution that prevents us from returning to the situation we are now faced with.
But the people who are the loudest are the ones screaming “They just want open borders and to allow everyone in, even…gasp…MS-13!” Or, “They hate all brown people and want to kick out everyone who is not lily white, because they are all racist!” Both extremes are part of the problem, not the solution.
The US earmarked $120 million for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 fiscals years to help Israel with research and development of the system, helping to “establish anti-tunnel capabilities to detect, map, and neutralize underground tunnels that threaten the US or Israel,” US Defense Department spokesman Christopher Sherwood told Foreign Policy magazine last year. Sherwood said the US “will receive prototypes, access to test sites, and the rights to any intellectual property.”
