i think they can easily make dc a state.

1. shrink its boundaries so it just encompasses the federal buildings.
2. pass a statehood bill and use article 3 section 2 to prevent the supreme court from having jurisdiction over the statehood bill

of course if the court has been expanded to 13 they probably wont need to exclude the court from the decision

You can try that, but I think you will eventually be told you need a constitutional amendment.

The thing is: I was open four years ago to this possibility. And Trump was a black swan (sort of). So. But no one ever explained how or why it was going to work, especially when Trump came into office with one setting: WINGNUT, BUT HARDER THIS TIME. Lots of doubling down on most of the things everyone claims to hate about politics (grifting, divisiveness, lobbyists, broken promises, general incompetence). The Republican base liked it. Everyone else barfed.

Not a recipe for a Trump-induced realignment.

I would be happy with a conservative party that is more interested in arguing about solutions instead of reality.

They’re gonna think they can pull a Tea Party scam if they lose. Also a lot of it is gonna turn on whether Trump demands their allegiance for some dream of a 2024 run.

Though I do wonder if the way they’re going to establish themselves as the adults who were really against him is to shut him down when he tries to burn the whole place down during the lame duck period.

He loves the attention, he can’t get enough of it and I don’t think that TV gives him the same buzz as an adoring live audience does. He can literally fly all over the country for 4 years and soak it in. Plus, he can use his followers to primary any GOP member that doesn’t lick his boots.
