NATO chief accuses Russia of using banned weapons in combat
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has accused Russia of deploying cluster bombs and other prohibited weapons during its invasion.
âWe have seen the use of cluster bombs, we have seen reports of use of other types of weapons which will be in violation of international law and of course NATO allies and partners are collecting information and are monitoring very closely what is going on in Ukraine,â Stoltenberg said.
Stoltenberg spoke at a press conference in Brussels on Friday and reiterated that the war itself is a âblatant violation of international law," adding that he welcomed the International Criminal Court opening an investigation.
If only Russia had used NATO-approved drone attacks, there would be no concern about war crimes.
False flags are a big risk from what I see. There has been a firehose of disinformation spraying out of Ukraine, and Ukrainian forces have a huge incentive to create a problem and blame it on Russia to force NATO intervention.
Itâs food. Literally all of this is about food. Why does everyone want to talk about everything except Ukraine supplying like seventy percent of Russiaâs total food supply.
The Brandon admin told Putin last year they would allow him to sell energy to Europe through a pipeline that goes around Ukraine, and then told the Russian there will only be minor sanctions for invading Ukraine. Basically it was like they were negotiating a price for Ukraine with Putin, and he accepted.
What does the brandon admin get? A change of subject from their complete incompetence and the ability to call those who think the admin is a ship of fools âtraitorsâ and such. Not to mention their holy grail of really expensive oil for Global warming.
I donât know if itâs about food or not from the beginning. Food is definately a big part now considering the Russian 40 mile convoy is low or has no food and the grocery shelves have been cleared off shelves in Ukrainian cities including Kiev.
And since there is not going to be any airdrops from the outside one wonders how long before people start to starve, if it hasnât started already.
EU wants Ukraine to join âas soon as possibleâ
European Union Commissioner Maros Sefcovic said Friday that he wants Ukraine to become an EU member âas soon as possible,â according to Reuters.
âItâs time for signaling that the Ukrainian people is one of the European peoples and we want them in as soon as possible,â he said, adding that âI think what⌠is the most important now is to help Ukraine in the fight.â
Russia is the worldâs largest exporter of wheat even without Ukraine.
Food shortages are a real issue, but the biggest problems may be in countries who depend on exports from Russia and Ukraine. Food prices were already rising even before the invasion, and they are likely to continue higher.
Ireland was still a net exporter of food during the entire Great Hunger which killed a quarter of the population and turned another quarter into refugees. Whatâs your point.
One of my favorite things to say in my old age is that life isnât that complicated. Itâs just hard. You can sum up the reason for this in a sentence: if Ukraine joins NATO, NATO can blackmail Putin into doing whatever they want by holding food shipments hostage.
Thatâs it. Weâve even done something very similar to this during the Cold War, which we may not remember but Russia certainly does.
