“I am part of the Resistance in the Trump Administration” - Stunning Article in NYT

The GOP didn’t do it, republican, independent and even some democratic voters did. I am at a loss to explain their continued support of Trump. He should have been ridden out of town on a rail long ago.

I think it’s going to be a relatively unknown person who wrote this. Not a big juicy name like Pence or a cabinet official.

The GOP fully endorsed this clown, own him.

All appointed by trump, co-signed by the GOP.
Every mistake, mistep, fumble, bloop, blunder, lie, investigation, conspiracy, indictment, guilty plea, guilty verdict was deflected to the Dems having formed a deep state to make the trump admin look bad.
Do I need to post videos of this?

It’s the party of personal responsibility after all.

The won’t because they don’t want to know the truth.

I equate this to a person who doesn’t want to go to the doctor because they’re afraid of receiving bad news so they avoid at all cost until they drop dead…

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Not a higher bar. Just a majority of those that work close enough to the Orange Idiot to do the right thing, if he is as brain addled as the op-ed author suggests.

No, I already conceded many people were blaming it on democrats, I however wasn’t one of them and am not the only one who recognized it was coming from republicans and not democrats, and again, that a republican admitted being part of it does not preclude others from doing the same things.

That’s temporary, you should have read further, to make it stick requires a two-third majority in both houses of congress, which is a higher bar than impeachment.

Sure. It was a generality. But the GOP is fully behind (at least publicly) him now and refuses to act as any sort of check on him, making them complicit.

They may be behind him publicly but I am pretty sure you realize they are not privately and would love it if voters abandoned him enough to permit them to remove him from office. Which is what this letter is all about.

And I don’t believe his supporters would ever abandon him without having the overwhelming majority of those in his own party come out and publicly denounce him like they seem willing to do on background only. Which makes them even more complicit in all of this. They have the power to save their party in the here and now. But if they continue to refuse to act, then there will be long term damage done to the GOP brand that will take some significant time to overcome. But by then will it be too late? Will they end up ceding power to the Democrats for generations as a result?

Well, that is nothing new. There are always competing political interests s and palace intrigue.

The differences here are, this author is acting out of concern for the country not out of political opportunism.

And of course the other difference is other presidents are effective managers and would root out political opponents. They also would t appear to be insane ■■■■■ grabbing ■■■■■■■■ and would thereby make such an op-ed look in-credible.

You realize you are talking about Trump right? If he is not acting like a loon on any given particular day that would be the exception not the norm. Whoever wrote this article apparently knew just how to trigger the Don.

I was thinking the same way until about three minutes ago, when I realized that the President is probably entirely focused on the rat hunt.

It makes me think that part of the reason for this is to distract the President from darker, even more stupid, impulses.

That couldn’t happen if the name of the accuser were known.

The current support for Trump is simply because he was elected President. That cannot be overturned because some people may have second thoughts or don’t like his morals. The time to bring this up is when some person with acceptable beliefs and better self control primaries him…if that happens.
And I can easily see some Democrat getting the nomination that would make me vote for Trump again.

I think a President who sees enemies all around him might be even more inclined to give in to his dark, foolish, paranoid impulses.

So the Republican party has no recourse to do anything about the lazy, amoral, lying piece of trash they put in the White House until 2 years from now? Winning an election allows someone to do whatever the hell they please for the length of their term?

No, you all get to own this. Both those who have turned a blind eye and those who have actively excused it.

Why would a WH mole want to announce his presence, even anonymously? Just to create drama? Why? What could be the point?

It’s probably Kelly. He probably told the adults that he would control the madman as long as he could. Probably told them that he would send a strong signal if it got out of hand.
