Huge Clue to Trump's Court Pick

Of course a judge’s personal beliefs sometimes come into play. But judges should at least try to fight that personal bias, not encourage it.

Yes we sure do. But she won’t voluntarily retire unless her health gets so bad she has no other choice.

I believe Kennedy retired now because he’s over 80, and he knew he would be replaced by a conservative. Over the years Kennedy disappointed conservatives, but he also ruled many times in our favor, especially with the last few decisions.

And it’s certain Thomas would like to be replaced by a conservative. He’s about 10 years younger than Kennedy, so next year might be too early, but if Trump is reelected and Rs still hold the Senate maybe in 2021.

Ginsburg is the classic case of why waiting too long can have unintended consequences.

So it isn’t based on texturalist or original basis but of personal feelings? interesting considering that is the benchmark many on the right feel it should be.

What happens if this judge is appointed, then has some family members killed by a few guns, then “feels” like guns themselves seem to be the issue in america and decides to start supporting gun restrictions?

Very true.

Oh I can’t imagine the freak outs and meltdowns. It will be way worse than anything we have seen yet, simply because it will definitely tilt the court towards conservatives for a long, long time, barring something really unexpectedly happening to one or more of the younger justices.

Sexism? Where did she face that?

Unhinged criticism of her religious beliefs and saying she’s in a “cult”, coupled with her pro life views, which are really not much different at all from the leading male contenders.

I’m quite certain Kavanaugh and Kethledge are as pro life as she is.

You do understand that isn’t happening right?

I can see where you can argue that as bigotry. Not so much sexism.

The courts could very well be 7/2 by the time Trump is done…and the country is on a course for a true conservatives to rule.

Trump is shaping the battlefield…just what I’ve was expecting/hoping.

It’s quite apt to.

There is a difference between holding a belief and being able to judge in the context of the law right?

Not really.

It’s almost as if you have forgotten that democrats actually make progress in 2016 in congress despite the white house, and they are poised to again this year in congress. This trade war your lord and savior has enacted I promise you will not help.

She also mentioned the death penalty as something a Catholic judge should oppose.
I don’t want her. Trump has better to chose from. If Trump chooses her it is because she’s a woman****strong text That is also sexism if you want to throw that word around.

Because nearly all of the attacks have been leveled against her, not any of the men. Barely a peep about any of them, although that will definitely change next week if the nominee is a man.

And that “cult” thing that many on the left have ran with is funny. Are they unaware she’s a graduate of a prestigous university, and is a current circuit court judge? She’s not just sitting at home in a red dress and bonnet taking orders from her husband.

It’s almost as though you have forgotten how many democrats are running this time.

Also that the Trump base is pumped and ready to go.

Women make up half of the population. Why is it sexist to want some equality and female representation? Doesn’ have o be 50/50, but I’m sure many would agree a 100% male anything isn’t a great idea any more.

Have you been paying attention to recent election results?

A simple look at the special election results should tell you all you need to know.

We will see. You guys were cocky going into 2016 too thinking Hillary had it in the bag. :grinning:

Choosing someone because of their sex is sexism.
You didn’t mention her belief that Catholic judges should oppose the death penalty.
The pope has also denounced capitalism and global warming. What should a Catholic judge do about that- I wonder what Barrett thinks.
I don’t want her. Trump has better.
