How stupid is 60 Minutes? Mexican gun control works?

60 minutes actually thinks gun control in Mexico works. A place that drug cartels probably control over half the country. Real Americans saw how stupid they are and reacted on X accordingly. The legacy media can’t see how stupid they look these days. Lost in the 90’s…

““I guess that explains why no one is ever killed by guns in Mexico.” another X user mentioned”

Maybe that’s why the cartels are winning.

The solution is obvious. Arrest all those cartel gang members for illegal gun possession and throw them in prison. :sunglasses:

It becomes more and more obvious each day as I witness our government attempt to control all dialogue by labeling things that go against their agenda as…“misinformation” or “disinformation” to allow themselves the authority of censorship. Then comes gun control. This is in part why our forefathers mandated the 2nd Amendment and “a well regulated militia”. The 1st and 2nd Amendments are under attack by the corrupt, DC establishment and uniparty.

Infringed is a very delicate word.

From Google AI:

Gun-related deaths
In 2023, Mexico’s homicide rate was 26 per 100,000 people, compared to the U.S.'s 6.8 per 100,000. From 2015 to 2022, more than 160,000 people were killed with a gun in Mexico. The rate of firearm homicides rose by 109 percent during that time.

Only criminals’ own guns in Mexico. They are easily obtained on the black market. Ordinary citizens in Mexico have no legal means to protect themselves from the criminal elements.

So yes, Mexican gun control is very effective in keeping guns out of the hands of ordinary citizens. Even criminals can’t legally purchase guns in Mexico.

But…

They can certainly obtain their guns illegally from pretty much anywhere else. And they do. Big time!

When only cops and criminals have guns…

And in Mexico, cops can be bought at a cheap price.

And in the US.

Police corruption in Mexico is rampant, while in the U.S., estimates range from less than 1% to as high as 7% of police are corrupt.

Absolutely no comparison.

In Mexico, the police openly take bribes. Here, they have to hide it better.

 So naive.

Or not.

I’m quoting statistical data. You are certainly welcome to provide supporting data that refutes mine.

Your link to a single border agent taking a bribe is just that. I single incident. :+1:

No you aren’t. You posted an “estimate” of one side and declared victory.

Oh, you want more? Are you sure?

Here’s a pro tip for you:

People aren’t better because they have white faces and speak english.

Yep!

This looks to be a good discussion. Is there widespread corruption in U.S. police forces, on a level equaling that in Mexico?

Rather than trading quips, let’s link to hard data.
