They could elected another Democrat sure, but If they nominate a Progressive to replace her I think they lose the seat. Progressives have done a great job of taking over the Democratic Party but they are still only about 35 percent of the population and the only thing keeping other Dems and Independents from voting Republican is you know who.

I completely disagree it is disrespectful to approach someone like the senator on a crowded airplane just so you can selfishly get your little selfie this Karina girl was wrong in her actions.
I fly a lot and that kind of crap is exactly what I don’t want on an airplane that I’m on.

Well, I don’t know man…if they are sleeping, or eating, or in a conversation, sure…
but I don’t think elected officials can ever be completely unapproachable. Sometimes this is the only chance people might have to let their voice be heard directly by the people we elect.
You’re harassing everyone behind you, trying to find their seat, so that the jet can keep the tight schedule required for those boarding other planes later in the day or for those waiting for them at the destination. She has NO right to harass all of those innocent people but she did. She considers herself more important than everyone she did harass.
Was it during boarding? Yeah, that’s annoying. I haven’t watched the video. I was speaking more to just generally approaching elected officials in public places. Done respectfully, I think it’s fine.
Not on a crowded airplane…there’s a lot that can go wrong on a plane.
Yes senators can expect people to try to get in their ears but a crowded airplane is the wrong place to go get your stupid little selfie. That young woman was in the wrong.
But realistically when could you do it then?
I have a friend who was in line behind chris christie getting ice cream. He struggled with annoying the gov. and speaking his mind to his elected leader. Finially tapped him on the shoulder and said, ‘srry to bother you, and I’ll be brief…’ laid out a question for him, they disagreed, he said as much, moved on to his second point. Again, he didn’t agree with the Govs position and said so, and then thanked him for his time.
Was glad he didn’t let the opportunity go even though he knows it didn’t move the needle.
That’s kind of what I think about in these instances.
The average Joe doesn’t have many opportunities to chat with their elected officials. You are being ridiculous.
You’re not annoyed Karina seized an opportunity and talked to Sinema. She was calm…there was absolutely zero chance this was a situation that could “quickly go bad”.
You care and are annoyed because she was speaking on positions you are against.
Otherwise you wouldn’t care about this and you know it.
The only inappropriate behavior was when she was followed into the bathroom.
Otherwise none of what I see constitutes “harassment” and if she thinks it was, then Senator Sinema is in the wrong job.

A crowded airplane is not an appropriate place to approach a Senator with your political grievances. I wouldn’t care if it was someone with whom I agreed or disagreed. I can just as easily argue to you folks are would hypocritically be upset if the tables were turned.
It happened, it’s over, nothing happened. Yay…This kind of thing does not just effect Karina and the senator it involves everybody else on the plane.
This girl was in the wrong. Period.

It’s been interesting watching the chips align who’s is really calling the shots. The party as well as the leftwing media are going after the two moderate senators while praising the most far left in the congress that blocked the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
There is good reason and evidence on why Manchin and Sinema would be worried about spending too much and run away inflation.

Another is, if you are presented the opportunity to talk to elected officials, you should take it.
Its odd - I would think you were in the ‘elected officials aren’t special. They have no expectation of perfect tranquility while in public.’
This position seems out of synch with your other opinions of elected officials.

No, elected officials are not special. There is a time and place for everything. I wouldn’t ask Shakira to dance for me or Ernest Hemingway to sign a book for me on a plane either.

You kind of parsed the Biden statement and omitted the first thing he said, that it was not appropriate.
And it wasn’t appropriate, it was pretty damn rude.
No that’s not hullabaloo. Noem was the one asking for special treatment.
This wasn’t access because of special relationship or privilege. This was access by serendipity.
On an airplane is a fine time and place, especially since the person was very respectful.
No, it isn’t. It’s rude and intrusive.
