It is an opposition to being being held up as immoral, lesser or shameful by some people.
It is a rejection of the shame that they are told that they should feel.
Instead of shame and guilt, they are proud to be who they are.
Why is âhomosexualâ something to be proud of? Itâs not like an achievement.
It is immoral, but thatâs not relevant to my question.

Because in living memory it was a marginalized way to be.
Something that was shameful.
That was countered with instead being proud of who they are.
