Grand Jury Indicts Police Officer instead of Accused!

on Nov 13 2024, Leitchfield Ky convened a Grand Jury and attempted to indict a home owner who was trying to put out a fire in his basement. Lanny Fentress, the home owner, said a Lithium battery exploded in his basement and there was a fire with a lot of smoke. He dialed 911 and the police arrived before the fire department. Him and his adult son refused to leave the house. They were attempting to stop the fire from spreading with a garden hose. The police officer on scene order him to leave and he refused. The officer tased him and beat him to a bloody pulp, and arrested him. Then they released to the local news how he was so violent to the officers, and such a threat to the community.

So they convened a Grand Jury to indict him and his son. The Grand Jury wanted to see the body cam footage of the officers on scene. After viewing it, they refused to indict Lanny and his son, but indicted the Officer on scene instead!

I wonder how the police and city are going to try to get of this one. The officer on scene can advise, but he has no right to force the owner out of his home with out a judicial order.

Not a police state.

Good for the jury.

Good to see this backfiring on the police.

However why would someone want to put out a lithium battery fire with water. Thats asking for more trouble. Everyone should have foam based extinguishers in their home.

Guy was probably scared and panicked.

Since he only had a garden hose, I was thinking he was trying to slow the surrounding area from going up and minimizing the damage as much as possible until the FD arrived.

Hopefully.

Water will extinguish a lithium battery fire. There is very little lithium metal in a battery.

And as @komobu said, it will keep it from spreading.

Your mealy-mouthed criticism of the citizen is ignorant and irrelevant.

Merry Christmas.

Man’s house is on fire, he and his son are fighting to save their home. The police taze him, beat him and arrest him. All in front of his family.

And the best response you can come up with is “FoAm eXtiNgUiSher!”

Be a man!

Karenism must die.

And succeed.

It’s Thanksgiving. Christmas is in December.

There are two ways to think during an emergency:

  1. The ideal way - “utilizing water in attempt to extinguish this fire that is being fueled by lithium batteries will result in a chemical reaction that leads to the release of hydrogen that, in turn, may ultimately exacerbate the situation”

  2. The realistic way - “oh ■■■■■ my ■■■■ is on fire, what do I got that will put this out”.

And hindsight is 20/20, but only looking back.

Well, hindsight 20/20 and all…it’s probably best for a cop not to beat the ■■■■ out of someone for their own good.

Or shock them. Which probably wouldn’t have had to happen if he had fOaM eXtiNgUisHer!

I think that’s the real lesson here…had Lanny simply followed proper fire extinguishing etiquette, po po wouldn’t have had reason to beat the ■■■■ out of him.

So kids, remember you classifications of fire…or your friendly representative of government authority may bust your lip.
