Itās over Obamacare subsidies that are expiring, and that oh so nasty requirement that people who can work, need to do so to get Medicaid (damn you, Bill Clinton 
).
Plus they want to pass a law limiting the ability of the President to actually reduce spending, reducing him to a mere rubber stamp for congress.
Oh, and you might want to go study what a filibuster is, and why itās important in this.

If you are worried about the illegal aliens, pay for it our of your pocket. Everybody that wants to pay for their healthcare, nobody is stopping you. If every democrat that wants their healthcare paid for would write a check, Iām sure they could pay for it.
Throw a little in for global warming and to bail out the insurance companies.

When under control of both parties.
With me itās not about which party is in control, itās about having these āshutdownsā where people donāt get hurt. No matter which party is in power - I WANT IT TO HURT. As long as it dosenāt hurt, the politicians have no incentive to not negotiate and to go with what I call āgovernment slowdownsā.
As I said in the post you responded to, if there were a real governement shutdown, then it would happen only once as the blowback from the people and the impact would be huge. It would only happen once.

Government shutdowns are such a no show. They all end up getting paid. If you want it to hurt do it like how us in the private sector would be hit, no work no pay.
I donāt feel sorry for people who meet up a couple of times a year and can vote to increase their own wages.

If anyone should be blamedā¦it should be all of them. Republicans and Demcrats alike. And the president too. Weāve gone thru shut downs before. Its the blame game that is infuriating.

This it totally on the Democrats. Republicans usually help pass funding bill like these when Democrats have the majority.. Three Democrats voted with the republicans this time but they still needed 5 more votes.
Democrats polled 65% said they didnāt want a shut down.

Nothing has changed. The grandfather clock is still ticking. The lights are still on. The stars are still twinkling. My dog is happy. And the bubbler on my fermentation bucket is still pulsing.
