Obviously, if you acted like Gonzo and lived in a country, that is at war with another country, and then you decided that for whatever reason that it would be a good idea, to use the location where you lived which was close to the center of Kyiv, to essentially spy on Ukrainians and ukrainian police and military personnel and then betray that country by giving that intel weekly to your FSB handler, as well as using your sizable social media platform to help Putin commit war crimes by spreading russian propaganda and misinformation like the dirty virus you are, you would be arrested too. And thats why Gonzalo Lira was arrested in Ukraine. The End.
to use the location where you lived which was close to the center of Kyiv
Lira has been confined to a small area around his apartment in Kharkiv. He is nowhere near Kyiv. All his videos are from the interior of his apartment. Claiming he is a spy is silly.
His video commentaries and interviews are in English. The reason for his arrest appears to be a blatant attempt to censor the debate in the US and Europe.
Biden bragged about getting the Ukrainian prosecutor fired within hours back we was VP, and the government in Kyiv is even more dependent on US aid today. Lira would be freed immediately if Washington protested. The American silence is a tacit confirmation that Washington supports Lira’s imprisonment.
The publicly announced contracts are just the tip of the iceberg. The intel agencies have “six ways from Sunday” to get back at you.
The multibillion-dollar contracts are carrots for big tech, but the US government has also been willing to use censorship and intimidation as a big stick to silence critics.
Chuck Schumer is the source, not Maddow. He should know; he is on the senate intelligence committee.
Schumer is supposed be acting as oversight for the intel agencies, but he warned the president-elect that they are effectively outside the control of the elected government. What hope does a private company have to disobey their edicts?
The book is critical of draconian COVID policies. Ironically the charge is:
“disseminating propaganda, the contents of which are intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization,” which is punishable by “imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine.” Political Satirist (me) Under Criminal Investigation in Berlin
There are similar threats to arrest Elon Musk for failing to meet European censorship laws.
I have heard zero criticism from the US government about criminal prosecution of US citizens living in the US for violating European censorship laws. The obvious implication is that the White House at least tacitly approves of these efforts–more censorship by proxy.
You think that’s bad? The US through NATO hosts a Ukrainian kill list of American citizens who have gone against Ukraines preferred narrative on the war.
Edit, it has been moved now after it was noticed when they put Kissinger on the list.
