what would be the reason for a bayonet to be attached to firearm?

asking questions.

Allan

jersey is one of the leading states in the education department.

Allan

Well to mount a bayonet on the weapon if needed.

Weapon of last resort. It effectively turns your rifle into a spear type weapon.

It’s still commonly used in the military for controlling prisoners. And soldiers are still trained to do combat with a bayonet equipped rifle in case ■■■■ has officially hit the fan and that’s all they have left.

for military use, i understand that.

i am talking about the civilian use of a bayonet.

is there any?

Allan

Sure. Say you’re the kind of guy who likes hot hunting. You’re on the ground. You get a weapon malfunction you can’t easily clear. A bladed weapon could easily save your life in that situation.

Not one of those features affects function. Arbitrary definitions by grossly ignorant people don’t mean ■■■■■

Without a grenade, the launcher is just added weight.

You haven’t so far, why should we expect you to listen to us now?

The gun functions equally well with or without a bayonet lug. Why would you care if it bears one?

Not when it comes to firearms. But I will concede, that when it comes to teaching DEI and alternate gender nonsense, they are probably tops.

And they allow Riot Cops or NG to control mobs without having to shoot anyone.

Your silly State law doesn’t ban bayonets (which are fundamentally no different than hunting knives,) it bans bayonet lugs, which on their own (just like the grenade launch tube and the other features you listed) adds absolutely nothing to the lethality of the gun. All of your State’s efforts to redefine certain semi-automatic rifles as “assault rifles” is blaitantly stupid.

what dangerous animals that are hunted in Jersey, need a bayonet.

maybe a black bear. but bear season is very limited here in jersey.

there really is no reason for a bayonet in jersey.

Allan

if they are truly just cosmetic features it would be easy to remove them and make the rifle legal would it not.

there are 1000s and 1000s of legal rifles owned by hunters and for self protection that meet the requirements in new jersey.

there is hunting in my county and rifles used to hunt meet the requirements with nary a feather ruffled.

Allan

No Allan, you cannot easily remove them. But even if you did, what difference would it make? It would still be the same gun.

Your ignorance knows no bounds.

Then having a bayonet lug on the gun is of no consequence. In other words, there is no reason to ban them.

Can you explain the functional difference between a hunting knife and a AR15 bayonet? Are hunters in New Jersey allowed to have hunting knives?

but those are “cosmetic” features, why not make a rifle without them.
thereby making the gun legal to own in Jersey.

Allan

if it is no consequence, why have them there in the first place.

seems unnecessary to me.

Allan

Why not? Are knives illegal in Hole Jersey?

Yes. Roasting marshmallows.

Why do you want to ban stuff? Prohibit.

In the history of New Jersey, how many people have been bayonetted?
