Georgia Republicans catch a break as the United States District Court accepts their redrawn Congressional map with an additional black district

The article is behind a paywall, but the gist is simple. Republicans were able to create another black majority district AND preserve their 9 to 5 advantage in the Congressional delegation. The United States District Court upheld their revised map.

Interesting. That might help to counter the extreme gerrymandering in NY. Guess we’ll find out by February 28.

Segregation is en vogue again.

It would seem so. It can’t be institutional.

Dems can gerrymander all day long and never seem to get reversed.

If not for double standards…

right from wiki

“Majority-minority districts may be created to avoid or remedy violations of the Voting Rights Act of 1965’s prohibitions on drawing redistricting plans that diminish the ability of a racial or language minority to elect its candidates of choice.”

Welcome to America comrade.

And you’re ok with that?

That’s mighty unliberal of you.

sure the reason was that people of color were unrepresented in congress in 1965.

that is a fact. much closer to fair representation nowadays.

all due to the VRA.
