I just want to put this out there about my opinions about George Soros.
I think that he is a rich weirdo who uses his money to fund the things that he cares about.
My opinion is that his involvement is hands off, that he dispersed most of his money through the Open Society who then goes on to fund other organizations.
I don’t think that he is some puppet master… he is just a rich guy who is doing what he feels is best for the world.
I don’t have any loyalty to him. Don’t know the guy.
If there was irrefutable evidence that shows that he is the antichrist that the CEC portrays him to be, then I will accept that evidence. But it has to be more than innuendo and FUD. It has to be something real.
Until then… to me he is some rich guy who has to some become the 21st century Rothschild punching bag.
If you don’t want to be talked about negatively by conservatives, don’t spend your billions to try to defeat their causes.
Same thing goes for people like the Koch brothers from the other end.
You can’t immerse yourself in politics and yell “off limits”.
And, as I said earlier, most of the talk about Soros recently have been from the left, not the right. This is not a thread by a conservative condemning Soros for anything, as example…and yet is the only time I have ever seen a Soros thread.
As I understand it, Soros made his fortune on the markets. He operated hedge funds, in stocks, currency. I would think that he would be a fan of Trump and the volatility he could bring to the marketplace.
On the other hand, the Kochs make their money in the energy sector and would benefit from deregulation which is often promoted by the Republican party.
No links, just my memory here. I may be wrong but it’s what I remember.
What happens to him goes beyond that in my opinion.
Then the President’s lawyer retweets that Soros is the antichrist and his assets should be frozen… that goes beyond mere political criticism in my opinion.
When the President makes baseless claims that “many people have said” that Soros is behind a caravan of migrants trying to make it to the IS border… that goes beyond political criticism.
That is something different in my opinion.
It isn’t countering his ideology with a countering vision. It is simply using fear. And that is a big problem in my opinion.
The Koch’s made their money from their father. They did a lot to keep it… but it was their father who built the empire.
Their father was also a Bircher and they inherited that too.
I do have to commend them for building an enourmous and effective political network that has been able to convince middle and lower class people to vote against their own best interests.
Matt Gaetz (R) Fla. is the one that tweeted that Soros was behind funding the caravan. He posted the video of migrants supposedly collecting money for their journey and posited that Soros was behind it.
Soros is just happen to be a high profile political backer that is enough for normal Republican similar to Koch brother or other high profile political backers.
the issue with Soros is when you go deeper into White Nationalism he becomes more of a face general antisemitic Zionist world government agenda seeking to destroy western civilization and replace it with fascist Jewish dictatorship.
The issue with talking about Soros compared to someone like the Koch is you and me can have a civilized talk about it, but there is a key difference between Soros and Koch.
Soros is the face of a alt-right white nationalist conspiracy in which they think the Jewish people are bank rolling a socialist take over of western civilization to impose fascist dictatorships. So when someone like Trump bring up the concept of “Soros funding Caravan” in his mind he is simply addressing the idea that Soros who is a powerful political backer. but in the mind of white nationalist he is confirming their belief in a Zionist world government conspiracy.
and that is where the issue comes how do we address the issue and have a debate without pushing white nationalist ideology.
The antichrist? Haven’t heard that one. Which lawyer was that, Cohen? Not on Trump, of course…unless Trump authoried it. Fear? Do you think someone is really afraid that Soros is the antichrist?
Yeah, I don’t like baseless claims followed by “many people are saying”. Do you think people are afraid that many people are saying it? I don’t.
You did note that it was the journalist inserting Soros in the coversation, right?
