I think he was legitimately charged with lying to the FBI, but since the FBI knew even what he had said on the phone, that is an unusual aspect. I think he was an unregistered lobbyist for a foreign country and should pay, just as should Podesta

The FBI not only knew what he said on the phone, they also knew he lied about what he said on the phone. They were trying to find out why he lied about his conversation, but he just continued to repeat the same lie to the FBI.
Yep. It was a crime to lie to the FBI. They were also setting him up. If they just wanted answers to questions, they would have told him “We know what you said on the phone because we were listening when you were talking to XXXX so…” That doesn’t excuse his lying, but I would consider in sentencing or even indicting if the interrogators were asking questions they already had the answers to.
Obviously, the judge is full into get Flynn. If Flynn had just told the truth, even with these circumstances, he wouldn’t be where he is.

setting him up? did you read the transcript they gave him every possible offramp and literally used the very words/phrase that were spoken to try and give him chance to redeem himself. they gave him every opportunity to do the honorable and honest thing and he still could not.
He wasn’t set up. Even his lawyers said their was no trap. He was given multiple chances to tell the truth, Flynn even knew they had recordings. Yet he still chose to lie. Interesting, no? Flynn chose to lie, knowing the FBI had recordings.
Honest question, where are you seeing that he was set up? His own lawyers have said he wasn’t set up. What’s your reason for contradicting what his own lawyers have said?
Flynn admits to knowingly lying to the FBI and knowing at the time that lying to the FBI is a jailable federal crime. For whatever reason, he seems to be admitting to avoiding telling the truth at the time. We haven’t yet heard what those reasons were. Why did he not withdraw his plea?
He seems to be an honorable man who realises he made an anomalous mistake, and is taking responsibility for that mistake. In doing so he is declaring his determination not to lie again. Because he knows there is nothing there re Russian collusion and the campaign. He knows that his HONESTLY cooperating with Mueller will provide Mueller with nothing useful. I think Flynn is waiting for the Special Counsel (SC) to present him with a demand to officially publish a lie re Trump, at which point he, like Corsey and Stone, will lay charges against the SC for seeking to pervert the course of justice. Mueller’ needs a pretext for continuing his investigation into 2020. He’s hoping that the citizens will have become sick of the 24/7 MSM negativity re Trump and dump Trump t avoid another 4 years of the same. The retention of Flynn as a cooperative witness will give the press a slender peg on which to hang ongoing propaganda attempting to persuade the public that there must be some there there that Flynn knows about and Mueller must be continuing to chase down.
