North Korean authorities announced Friday evening that the Hermit Kingdom will suspend all missile tests and shut down its nuclear testing facilities; setting the stage for next month’s high-stakes meeting between Kim Jong Un and President Trump.

According to Fox News, the North Korean regime announced their decision to suspend their weapons programs just hours after delegations from North and South Korea held negotiations to find a “permanent” settlement to the 68-year long war.

“From April 21, North Korea will stop nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles,” the Korean Central News Agency said, according to Yonhap News. “The North will shut down a nuclear test site in the country’s northern side to prove the vow to suspend nuclear test.”

“They have not attached any conditions that the U.S. cannot accept, such as the withdrawal of American troops from South Korea. All they are expressing is the end of hostile policies against North Korea, followed by a guarantee of security,” said South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Suspending is one thing, abandoning something else entirely. It’s encouraging, but this is merely the opening move in a chess match.

Hopefully Donald doesn’t show up with his Candyland gameboard.

It really depends though. NK is shutting down the test site, because they say testing is no longer necessary. There not talking about getting rid of their nukes, at least not yet. Now that they have deliverable nukes, they don’t need to do a lot of testing, and can negotiate for a seat at the big boy table.

We have seen this movie before with NK.
Im all for it and kudos to Trump if it HOLDS but the jury is out for 5 to 10 years to know if its real.
By then a dem will be Prez and able to take Trumps credit .o the irony.

It would seem to me that that would depend on whether or not inspectors were allowed in to confirm.

And unlike Obama he will have actually done something to deserve one whether he actually gets the award or not.

All I can say keep our fingers cross, if Trump can pull it off great, if not then alternatives isn’t very attractive.

I would say applying pressure on China might be paying off.

I just now seen the NK is going to release those three Americans when Trump meets up with em.

They aren’t going to give up their nukes, it would be suicide to do so. Just more theatre.

I’m not even sure they need to do any further testing, as the last one was confirmation that they’d managed to make a hydrogen bomb.

They basically just said we’re a nuclear power now, no need to do more tests.

Nothing has been set in stone, it’s just an announcement thus far. But if a deal is struck that allows inspectors in and NK joins the rest of the modern world, this will be a huge win for this administration.

Keeping fingers crossed but seems like Trump is overstating whats going down.

Well- the last time NK came to the table, their economy was hurting so bad it actually was affecting the Kims.

So let’s wait and see if this time is any different.
