Good question. For decades our strength has been that we have been blessed by having some very intelligent men and women who have made the choice to serve.
While women in the military have long faced massive problems with sexual harassment from men, I suspect woke politics mean that gay guys and women with penises are opening new avenues for harassment.
Victims of sexual harassment can be targeted as homophobic and/or transphobic if they complain.

Yes, it may just be a coincidence that a major increase in harassment problems is occurring at the same time that woke politics are permeating the military.

I believe another reason for the reluctance of many to join the military is the possibility of being sent to fight a war under the leadership of a dementia ridden old man named Joe Biden.
The possibility of dying to save the Democrat’s money laundry in the Ukraine is enough to turn most people off.

The big news is that the number of Americans qualified to join the military without a waiver continues to plummet. Since 2014, the military has been reporting that because of obesity, adverse criminal history, physical problems, drug use, or lack of a high school degree, only 29% of Americans qualify to join the military without a waiver.
Conservatives gut education and favor farm subsidies that allow ConAgra and Monsanto to sell highly fattening processed foods more cheaply than wholesome foods.
They refuse to do things to make sure poorer Americans have access to adequate health and psychological care.
But it’s all because of the queers.

Democrats never saw a problem they didn’t want to throw someone else’s money at.
Screaming “Healthcare” and “Education” might be better received if we didn’t bother to look at how that money was spent, and what on.

I would also add as I noted before that we have a shrinking native born population and from my experience in education is that the new immigrant population doesn’t have any desire to join the military. I would also include a decline in patriotism with the newer generations.

Athletes taking a knee to the National Anthem and American Flag sends the message to young people that this country is somehow evil. Patriotism is no longer encouraged in schools and kids are taught that this country was founded by a bunch of old white guys and on racism.
And then they wonder why no one wants to fight for our country.
