Not technically illegal, we understand.

Too soon?

What a shame that this is true. Maybe nobodies should attempt to be somebody and care?

True. Joe (and now Hunter) has been hiding behind “That’s just Joe being Joe” for so long, it doesn’t matter how stupid what he does is, most people don’t care. They expect him to be dumb.

From a Quora article:
Question: Why did Hunter Biden leave his laptop in the repair shop if it was full of incriminating evidence that could harm his father President Joe Biden?
Answer:
Did he?

For reference, I am a computer technician myself of 22 years experience and have worked in retail stores like the one in this case when I was younger.

We know that he left a laptop for repair that’s the only fact that can be validated.

According to the repair shop the laptop had liquid damage and Hunter had asked for his data to be recovered. After Biden failed to collect it they claimed ownership of it after a year.

That scenario doesn’t seem likely. Very few people would forget about a expensive laptop especially if they were worried about the data on it. I worked in IT all my life, that sort of thing doesn’t happen often. If it did it was because the computer was beyond repair and abandoned. But even if the machine itself was worthless, a customer like Biden would still make sure to make sure the Hardrives were both degaussed and then physically destroyed.

I also don’t buy the explanation about the repair. The damage the store describes is not consistent with liquid damage in my experience. I could be wrong having not examined the machine but it does pass my smell test.

But even if we accept the stores version of events something is still things wrong here.

Even if the shop had legally assumed ownership of the laptop that would only apply to the machine itself not the data. The ownership of the laptop does NOT give one the right to view it’s data contents of another user. The ownership only extends to the physical machine not the electronic data.

In other words even if the shop legally owned the laptop they Never should have opened Hunter Bidens emails. That maybe grounds for both civil and criminal action. What they should have done was archived and encrypted the data and store it in a safe (in case he client returned), then replace the SSD.

Worse was the fact is that they transferred the data to Rudy Giuliani and other members of Trumps legal team. It would have been on thing if they had sent it to the FBI if there was evidence of a crime but the fact they sent it the lawyer of a political opponent shows malicious intent.

Is unauthorized access and transfer of electronic data Illegal? It’s commonly referred to as hacking and Yes it is.

There is also some evidence to suggest the data on the drives might have been manipulated as some data forensic experts have suggested. That is not fully verified but the report I read said the drive was “a mess”. Conclusive? No. Suspicious given the high profile owner? Highly.

Hunter should sue them for looking at the data. Why hasn’t he?

Also, it makes sense that he just left the laptop and the store operator just happened to have pictures of Hunter, and put them in the laptop.

From Smyrna;

Question; Why did Hunter Biden smoke all of those drugs knowing it would be harmful to himself, his family and potentially his father?

Answer; same reason as he left his laptop. He’s a total dumbass.

Manipulated the data?

Isn’t most of the juicy stuff E-Mail? You know there are always at least two copies of E-Mail?

Umm if you asked them to recover the data you have given them permission to see the data. People get busted for kiddie porn all the time that way.

Well, it might mean claiming them as his emails…

Maybe seeing your mother and sister die in a car accident when you are 2 has some kind of long term effect?

Also- I still don’t believe he dropped off that laptop.

Just before I took over a west Texas photolab in 1993 the previous manager and the detective who would bring in PD film for development had such an encounter.

The guy had dropped off some film for processing and when she started to print the pictures the detective just happened to be in the store dropping off film. She called him over. He looked and asked if she thought the guy really was coming back in an hour, then he told her to finish the job and he (in plain clothes) waited.

The guy showed up like clockwork and paid, started flipping happily through his pictures.

The detective asked him, all casual like, if those were his, did he take them, and he said they were.

Bet he was surprised when he got arrested.

Man, just imagine what could have been if Rudy didn’t completely taint the chain of custody with the laptop. Another example of MAGA elites screwing up simple details.

I was no where near that laptop!

The copium on the left for being fooled so many times by fake news and the FBI is completely irrational. Clapper lied to them again. Along with 49 other major figures in the “intel” community.

Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice. Shame on me. Sadly, the left has no shame…lol! You can tell because they have been fooled over and over and over …

This is what I said at the beginning…that the story would have been much harder to deny had not Rudy insisted on controlling the release of information from it.

If the laptop is truly damning, release the whole thing right away for all to see.

Not a difficult concept.

Julian Assange got it right.

Agreed.
