FBI arrests 2 suspects accused of planning attack on Baltimore power grid

It’s not a theory, it’s a question.

it’s sounds like you’re suggesting that the FBI encouraged them to conceive a plot to attack Baltimore’s power. Do you think that’s true? Even though we know he is a terrorist wannabe, that the FBI also obtained a document allegedly written by Clendaniel that authorities say resembles a manifesto. In it, she allegedly references Hitler, as well as Unabomber Ted Kaczynski and the perpetrator of the 2011 terrorist attack in Norway.

So, benefit of the doubt?

Again referencing the article in the OP …

The alleged plot was first flagged in June of last year after an FBI informant claimed to have been contacted by Russell, who wanted “to attack electrical substations and has provided guidance on how to cause maximum damage,” according to the criminal complaint filed against the pair.

It’s not anything that linear; the idea is to increase pressure on the society, and wait for a scared and angry populace to start casting about for people to blame.

No no you don’t understand…

You see the only way these people do bad things is because the FBI told them to do it. It’s the FBIs fault.

Which the left use to agree with when the object of their investigations were Muslims.

Let’s say an FBI agent gave these two the idea and walked away.

Would that make this incident forgivable?

This was supposed to be in furtherance of their goals. I’m still trying to figure out what goals could be furthered by knocking out the electricity for a while, other than the goal of knocking out the electricity for a while.

Let’s see: No banking, no gasoline, no lights, no phones, no stores or supermarkets open, no tv or internet, no refrigeration, in many cases no heat or water. In a predominantly black city. Sound fine?

Basically it sows chaos.

Urban areas completely fall apart when a mass power outages occur. Think about all the systems that depend on electricity.

These “atomwaffe” guys look like a small group. Destroying a power station and knocking out power across a wide area allows them to deal outsized damage at minimum physical risk to themselves.

And this takes us back to that FBI report. How many of these disgruntled little groups are out there?

Also, it’s a de facto cell structure without centralized leadeship

The more you think about it…the stupider it is.

Like flushing a Koran down the toilet.

How is knocking out power to a major American city of 2.4 million people anything like flushing a Koran down the toilet?

No but it would mean they likely weren’t responsible for past attacks.

Who told you they were responsible for past attacks on power grids?

Nobody, but there have been past attacks and I would prefer we find those people sooner rather then later as well.

So your main takeaway from all this is that the Atomwaffen gentleman is being used to unfairly stereotype white people ? :face_with_monocle:

They haven’t been linked to the other attacks, but it’s plausible that this will be the new method of terror. It seems relatively easy to duplicate. All you need is an automatic weapon.

Can you point to all the LW militias there are…that would battle the RW militias?

No organized militias in the same manner. Being in a militia is not inherently wrong. It depends on the group’s mission goals. Which is the issue with many modern militias.

But semi organized reactionaries? Guys like Antifa? They’ll learn from the right wing groups. Left wingers are arming theirselves. They’ll get organized over time.

And they both will follow the example of groups like Al Qaeda. Using the minimum input of resources to cause outsized damage.

Terrorism isn’t an ideology. It’s a tactic.
