If you think it’s too long, that’s your fault (kidding but not kidding)
The Lighthouse was really good.
Was Hereditary from 2019? Another good one, but unsettling.
I can’t wait to see lighthouse
Parasite - by far
Peanut butter falcon
Jojo rabbit
A marriage story
Are you one of those people who thinks godfather is a work of art
Haha what’s god after?
Gotcha. No not really a work of art.
Just a great movie with great themes, and great acting.
You will learn more about modern American history from watching the Irishman than you can from just about any other movie. Just my two cents.
As a modern movie sure but there are a bunch of 80s and 90s movies that i would say do a better job.
Oh for sure, but 80s and 90s movies aren’t modern movies? Do you have any examples?
Knives Out was really good. The actors did a good job, and I LOVE mystery movies.
World according to garp
Forest gump
Forest Gump is one of my all-time favorite movies, and gives plenty of feel good vignettes about American history, but…in terms of accuracy?
Does one learn more about Kennedy’s presidency from watching Tom Hanks tell him he has to pee, or learning that Kennedy Sr. called in favors from the mob to get JFK elected in Illinois?
Real history > feel-good history
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was the Best Film.
Brad Pitt would win the Best Actor Oscar, were it not for Joaquin Phoenix who HAS to win Best Actor…that was a tour deforce of madness in Joker. His acting was amazing.
Speaking of Brad Pitt, “Ad Astra,” as obscure as it was, causing consternation among the Fake Scifi Fantasy audience, was an amazing film, that tells it like it is. James Grey directed. Most people don’t get what the ending was.
I don’t think I need to ever see Joker again, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Ad Astra I know I will watch them every so often.
Ill probably like the Irishman, but I can wait to see it—after DeNiro is digitally replaced by someone that doesn’t make me think about the final flame thrower pool scene from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
There were a few other good films from various genre but I would have to look them up to see if they were in 2019. “Greta” was a interesting mystery thriller and “Under the Silverlake” was a curiosity. The Twin Peaks sequel was a masterpiece it still feels new. I watched the last season of Game of Thrones. Only season I watched. These are just long movies. Watching them in 4K on my big TV is better than a movie theater.
Going to movie theaters in So Cal these days is just asking to be at ground central for the coming Ebola disaster.
I never heard of most of the films on the list in the OP. To my recollection I did not see a single new movie in 2019 although I may go to see the new Star Wars movie.
Most of the stuff that Hollywood puts out is not worth seeing in my opinion but to each his own.
Pet Cemetery - John Lithgow is a very good actor.
The New Lion King - It is better than the old Lion King cartoon.
Downton Abbey is the only one in that list i saw. Intend to see the Mr Rogers movie.
We saw the Harriet Tubman movie and thought it excellent.
Just weren’t very many movies in 2019 i wanted to see.
Hopefully 2020 will be a better year for movies.
I didn’t like Escape Room. I kept watching it, hoping it would get better, but no.
