While I applaud the move, I’m not sure it would have any impact on my day-to-day routine.
I currently live in Colorado, which already has English as the official language. Yet, I can’t count the number of times I go into a fast-food joint where the person waiting on me can barely speak English.
They know the basic menu items, but if I ask any questions about those menu items, their response is like a deer caught in a car’s headlights. It is so damned frustrating.
I like this. I learned something the watching youtube videos of various airline pilots. When communicating with the tower all language spoken is english. That is the rule. So why if i am in my home country should that be any different?
Unity and commonality among American citizens. Nothing wrong with being multilingual and keeping your language of origin while respecting a country of choice.
